We all know public school has its issues. There can be rude people or horrible teachers. Each person is forced to learn the exact same and act like one person. No one is an individual and is forced to act as a machine. Sadly these “machines” are humans, and do not work like a perfect robot. It is common knowledge that many students struggle in public school due to the fact they are not taught in a way to fit their needs. They end up declining in their studies and it is as if they are destined to fail. Some of those struggling students cannot reach the expectations that are set by educators who do not know or understand the pupil. They too are setup to fail. Many students have disorders that prevent them from reaching standards set by schools. Schools teach students in one way and one way only. Yet people are all different and cannot be taught just one way. By doing that, it is allowing students to fail while others succeed. And eventually those kids and their start to think maybe they just are not cut out for public school and the method used to teach. Instead they reach for homeschooling so they can still learn but they do not have to learn under a system that will fail them. Michael H. The curriculum is based exactly on the student’s needs and desires. There is no estimation of what thirty students may need and want to learn. It is just one student, who can focus and adjust to his or her work, and that work could be whatever the teacher or student wants it to be, life itself can become the lesson. Using the world around the student can be more useful than sitting in a classroom using examples. There is no limits when it comes to homeschooling. Time nor ideas are not an issue. Everything can just be flexible and cause less stress for everyone, especially students. (Romanowski par. 15) Homeschooling is just a world of opportunities that a child can open and explore. Students will not be playing around and wasting what could be an amazing education, instead they are getting that amazing education. Homeschooled students are learning not in a standard way, but that does not mean that they are not learning at all. They are just using their abilities in a way that suits them best. Parents withdraw children from school for concerns that are not being managed to their satisfaction. Bullying manifest, basic skills being reinforced poorly, and no one on one interaction, consequently, dissatisfaction within the public school system exists. Under those circumstances, homeschooling in some cases is necessary. Children who are homeschooled apprehend various social settings, maintain the offbeat school scheduling, and acquire knowledge from diverse sources other than teachers, while still maintaining a sturdy set of skills.
An estimated 4 million children are currently home schooled with a 15-20% yearly growth rate. According to a California study by researcher Dr. Brian [D.] Ray, 92 percent of school superintendents believe that home learners are emotionally unstable, deprived of proper social development and too judgmental of the world around them. The latest claim against home schooling suggests that home schoolers are potential child abusers. Mr. Ron Barnard, a Holly High School teacher says that he would prefer public schooling for his children because of the peer socialization, extra curricular, and mandated curriculum. Public schooling is more efficient in educating our youth than traditional home schooling.
The American Educational System is not what it used to be. Many people fear the falling standards of the United States’ public school system. What with the harsh social environment, the controversial curriculum, the overpaid, corrupt teachers with their own agenda, and the exposure to horrifying new ideas and ways of thinking; Or at least this is what the paranoid parents of the United States have led themselves to believe. Anything looks bad when you look at it in such harsh light. Granted, there are a few (or several ) flaws in the Public Educational System but rather than make an attempt to help fix these problems, parents take it upon themselves to educate their own children and “fix” them. This alternative form of education known as Home School gives parents the opportunity to teach their children as they see fit. However, this method of schooling can prove to be more harmful to the child rather than helpful.

Today, many parents are homeschooling their children. A U.S. Department of Education’s report shows that approximately 1.5 million children were being homeschooled in 2007 (Lips & Feinberg, 2008). This is almost 3 percent of all school age children (Lips & Feinberg, 2008). A private researcher, the National Home Education Research Institute, estimates 2.5 million children were being homeschooled in the 2007 – 2008 academic years (Lips & Feinberg, 2008). By either count, homeschooling is growing exponentially.
Homeschooled children’s personal education doesn’t get overlooked. According to “homeschooling vs. public schooling: making the right choice” in the Huffington Post, Marion Lewis states, that public schools focus on teaching the average student; which means any student above or below average doesn’t get what he/she needs. With so many students it’s no wonder many students are getting overlooked. Marion states that class sizes are too big, with class ratios being anywhere from one teacher with twenty students to a whopping thirty students to one teacher. Homeschooling helps fix this problem by having individualized education for each student. With homeschooling, the parent has the opportunity to pick out of the many curriculum options the right one to teach their child the way best suited for them. Marion also mentions how one on one teaching helps the parent (in this case the teacher) find and target the students weaknesses to help focus on fixing those weaknesses.
In today’s American society, quality education is important for one to succeed. Without proper education, a person will find it extremely difficult to apply for college, a job, or to pursue his or her dream. Typically when Americans think of education, public education is the first to come to mind. Public education has been around for centuries and is provided to most children throughout the United States. Due to this fact, public education has been the go to education source for years. Though, this trend is slowly changing with many parents deciding to home school their children instead. Many factors are the cause for this issue, but the common arguments arise from a certain few. For students, public school provides many opportunities ranging from social connections, school sports, and the exposure to teachers who are experts in their fields. But homeschooling is often superior because it offers additional time for students to participate in various extracurricular activities and community service, allows for more individual attention, personal character development, and it offers less exposure to discrimination that is received in the public school environment.
I hated waking up 6A.M. in the morning to see faces I’ve been seeing for years and teachers who pressured me to finish assignments in an accordingly time frame each class and oh don’t get me started on school’s food ugh! Just nasty. I’ve always wondered what would it be like to be home school at home, doing work at your own pace and all the food I wanted with no distractions. I know I’m not the only one who imagined how great it would have if we as public school students were home schooled instead. As I’ve got older while knowing some of my own friends taken out of public school for home schooling, I can see why public school is the better option. As the population in public schools increase, the problems in these schools are also on the rise. These changes are leasing to the way parents are schooling their children. Many parents are leaning towards homeschooling as a solution to this problem. This increase in homeschooling can be directly related to an increase in school violence, the offering of a lack luster curriculum, and lack of student teacher interaction.
All children in America have the right to a quality education. Most students receive that education through conventional means, going to a public or private school. Schools can give responsibility to students but never without a cost. Students should have to chance to prove their worth to schools and show how responsible they can be as adults. When students go to college classes as high schoolers they sometimes tend to have more free time during those times. If a child has enough responsibility to take those classes they should have enough to leave school and be trusted to come back to school after their free time is over. Although leaving school early is not something that is smiled upon it should be because some students are ahead and can work their schedule to allow extra time because of hard work in early years.
