People are always wondering why marijuana is against the law. It grows naturally on planet earth, so wouldn’t the idea of constructing nature against the law feel quite a tad unnatural? Nature should never be illegal because it was put on the earth for a reason. Marijuana is grown from the ground, it is not a manmade substance that humans can overdose from. I personally have never seen, read, or heard of any human being overdosing from the use of marijuana. A few reasons why marijuana should be legalized is because it can help fight multiple diseases, it will create more jobs and money, and the use of marijuana is less harmful than the use of alcohol. In a world were marijuana would be legalized, every laws against marijuana would be vanished. This would turn civilians to treat marijuana like every other legal goods that are taxed when purchased. The underground distribution of marijuana would eventually fade away, because there would be thousands of shops across the nation being built. Not only would this create jobs for construction workers, but it would create multiple jobs for people who can grow medical marijuana, sell marijuana, and truck drivers that have to deliver it. The economy would benefit greatly from all of the revenue that it would receive from marijuana. The government would more than likely benefit the most from marijuana legalization because it would heavily collect tax revenue off of the sale and manufacturing of legal marijuana, and it would lower the government’s budget that they use to fight against civilians that use marijuana. Earlier studies have shown that marijuana legalization will in fact reduce government expenses by roughly $8 billion every year, and these are expenses that involve state and local officials, as well as federal expenses (Miron). This is a stunning amount of money that could be saved if the United States just simply made a plant that is grown from planet earth legal. The money that would be generated from taxes on marijuana is also extremely

In fact marijuana was legal in the United States till 1942 when against the medical communities recommendation it was removed from the list of acceptable medications. Today there are numerous studies being conducted on the effects of medical marijuana and scientists have proven its effects on treating many symptoms. According to Dale H. Gieringer in his book Medical Marijuana Handbook he states, Marijuana is proven to be effective as an anti-nauseant and an appetite stimulant for people going through chemotherapy and as an analgesic for patients suffering from chronic pain (Gieringer, p. 39).
Why isn 't marijuana legal in the United States? Marijuana could serve many purposes to the human body and the community. In 1937, the government issued the Marijuana Tax Act. This act immediately criminalized marijuana. This means you can not have possession of the drug for medical purposes or not. This act is still in effect today, but it should be repealed .
The article discussed several potential health benefits to medical cannabis. For example, medical marijuana can be used to test glaucoma by slowing the progression of the disease and preventing blindness. It can help control epileptic seizures and decrease the symptoms of a severe seizure disorder known as Dravet’s Syndrome. The chemical CBD may help prevent cancer from spreading. In the last fiscal year alone, marijuana brought 70 million dollars in tax revenue in the state of Colorado. Colorado was the first state to legalize marijuana recreationally in the fall of 2012, and since then three other states and the District of Columbia have legalized the plant. Based off of sales in states that have legalized marijuana recreationally, if all fifty states legalized marijuana, they would bring in a combined 3 billion dollars in tax revenue yearly. That much money from sales of the plant alone could help to stabilize the suffering economy. Moreover, the American Government would be able to control the plant and distribute it how ever they see fit. The economic growth marijuana legalization could bring to the United States outweighs any argument against
The legalization of marijuana has the potential to bring our economy back to life if it were to be legalized. There are a number of ways in which legalization could improve the economy. We could use the revenue from taxes on marijuana to provide for a better quality of life for Americans in need. Legalizing marijuana would also save us money by cutting the cost of putting someone in jail for harmless marijuana related charges that waste tax money. Also it would put more money into circulation by keeping the profits off the black market and into the legal and taxed market. With an estimated twenty-five million active marijuana smokers in America that consume nearly thirty-one million pounds of marijuana each year, we are missing out on extreme revenue that this country cannot afford to go without for much longer (Krulick).
You will be in amazement at how long our government has despised such a great thing. Let’s begin with the US revenue gains that would occur from legalizing marijuana. Marijuana Offers Extreme US Revenue Boost in several Different Ways. Shouldn’t we want to collect revenue due to taxation other than criminalization? Marijuana is too expensive for our justice system and should instead be taxed to support beneficial government programs....
Cannabis is a natural plant that has been made illegal by the United States, and has been a controversial topic ever since the 1920’s. Marijuana is a substance that has been used hundreds of years ago as an herbal medicine and also can be used for textile products from hemp, which is from the Cannabis Sativa plant. Because of marijuana being categorized as a schedule one substance, it has no medical value and cannot be researched in the United States. Marijuana is said to be a gateway drug and is very unhealthy for adolescents with premature brains. The marijuana prohibition should finally come to a close because there are many benefits from cannabis and it is less harmful than both alcohol and tobacco.
In America, marijuana is the most used drug after alcohol and tobacco. Marijuana is used by millions of Americans, despite the harsh laws illegalizing the drug. Some states, such as Washington and Colorado have legalized marijuana for recreational use. Efforts to legalize the drug in other states have been unsuccessful such as Proposition 19 in California, which failed in 2010 despite uptight campaigns. Billions of dollars are spent at the state, local, and federal level to fight the use of marijuana. Millions are arrested for marijuana offenses and sentenced for extended periods. Marijuana has negative effects on the human health and high potential for addiction. Legalizing marijuana will eliminate the black market, which is responsible for the increase in violence, crime, and corruption. Resources used for mass incarceration in the war on drug can be redirected to rehabilitation to decrease drug abuse and addiction.

Thus we conclude that no adequate justification for the state’s intrusion into the citizen’s right to privacy by its prohibition of marijuana by an adult for personal consumption in the home has been shown…The state must demonstrate a need based on proof that the public health or welfare will in fact suffer if the controls are not applied. (qtd. in Linder)
Half of the people that don’t smoke marijuana are against to legalize it. It shouldn’t be legalize because teenagers use it during early ages. Marijuana has been known since many years ago. Most of the marijuana comes from Mexico since 1975 because it was easy to grow it, and easy to sell it. They shouldn’t approve the legalization because non-smokers see the bad effects on weed and the smokers take advantage. Smokers think weed is normal, and not harmful at all.
Are marijuana consumers considered patients or criminals to you? Is it fair to put people who are simply growing plants behind bars? Personally, I do see marijuana do phenomenal things to better lives. Why should we be left out of the tax money that would help our state, replacements from toxifying medications, and healing severe diseases and illnesses safely? For these reasons, this is why I support legalizing marijuana in Iowa.
Before deciding whether marijuana should be legal or illegal, one needs to know some basic facts. Lester Grinspoon, M.D. and James B. Bakalar note "most botanists agree that there are three species of marijuana; Cannabis sativa, the most widespread of the three, is tall, gangly, and loosely branched, growing as high as twenty feet; Cannabis indica is shorter, about three or four feet in height, pyramidal in shape and densely bran...

As a result of that, the state collected millions of dollars in tax revenue in a short period of time after legalizing the
