Should Gay Marriages be Legalized?
Homosexuality is a hot topic in the world today. We see it on the news, hear it on the radio and even read about it in the newspaper. I believe there will always be homosexuals as long as people live. For years society has looked down upon and condemned gays and lesbians. Even the Constitution of the United States forbids certain rights to homosexuals. For years homosexuals were not allowed to serve in the military unless they hid their sexuality. As I got older and came in contact with homosexuals and have friends and family members that are open about their sexuality, I sometimes question my beliefs, because most of the homosexuals I know personally have all stated they did not choose to be gay. Some even said because they have a hard time accepting the fact they are gay, has caused them to turn to drugs and alcohol, it caused them to make poor decisions that have landed them in trouble with the law, and some have stated they even considered suicide. You see on the news where innocent people have been killed because they were openly gay and showed affection towards their partner in public. Homosexuals argue they can’t help who they are attracted too or fall in love with. The fact of knowing they are different and knowing how some people look upon gays and lesbians is very difficult for some homosexuals to admit they are attracted to the same sex.
Did you know people treat Homosexuals differently in different Countries? There is a group by the name of “The International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association”, or ILGA, and they give a list of several different countries that have laws against sexual activity by homosexuals. In the Middle East, homosexuality is cond...

Have you ever wondered how it would feel to be hated for something that was perfectly normal to yourself or denied an opportunity because of a personal choice that does not hurt or even affect anybody else? Homosexuals are often facing either or both.
Society in many instances does not fully support or understand homosexual issues. The homosexual community is a valid part of the social community that has been excluded and marginalized for many years. With the continued ostracism of the homosexual community misconception, myth, and prejudice continue to exist concerning homosexuality. However, recently a new series of laws in the United States have pushed gay issues to the forefront of societal concerns.
Homosexuality has existed since the beginning of recorded human history and yet, attitudes towards gay and lesbian individuals vary extensively. Some societies tolerate them; others openly welcome and encourage them; and most blatantly condemn them (Bates, 46). Throughout our country’s history, homosexuals have been misunderstood and discriminated against, leading many to acquire an irrational fear of gays and lesbians. Known as homophobia, this fear has prompted heterosexual individuals with a feeling a superiority and authority when using the word “homosexual” interchangeably with the words pervert, faggot, sodomite, and so on. Homophobes typically perceive homosexuality as a threat to society. Nonetheless, the Gay Rights Movement has achieved impressive progress since 1973 when the American Psychological Association (APA) eradi...
...gay they also can take care of children, children are already being born to, adopted by, and raised by gay couples. If they are the same sex or opposite sex both parents can handle decision making and parenting without worry. This a free country anybody and everybody have the right to get married whether they’re gay or not, i feel like a gay marriage is a real relationship because they basically are doing the same thing the opposite sex are doing but it just that they can't have any kids but if they wanted to they can. Whether they’re the same sex or opposite sex they still have control over their relationship and can take responsibility of their own action. A relationship is about trust, communication, and being able to commit to your partner the same sex can give all that so i don’t know why it matter about gay marriage being a legitimate relationship.

When one hears the words “LGBT” and “Homosexuality” it often conjures up a mental picture of people fighting for their rights, which were unjustly taken away or even the social emergence of gay culture in the world in the1980s and the discovery of AIDS. However, many people do not know that the history of LGBT people stretches as far back in humanity’s history, and continues in this day and age. Nevertheless, the LGBT community today faces much discrimination and adversity. Many think the problem lies within society itself, and often enough that may be the case. Society holds preconceptions and prejudice of the LGBT community, though not always due to actual hatred of the LGBT community, but rather through lack of knowledge and poor media portrayal.
As seen through the statistics, those who are homosexual are put down. These younger children have been taught to judge and hurt those who are “different”. These older opinions on the matter lead to drastic things such as suicide because those who love the same sex do not follow the “norm”.
As the years have passed, homosexuality has become a very controversial topic. The fact that day by day they fight for equality just to be happy, I think it is an injustice that many people refuse to give them the rights they deserve.
