These days, every student carries at least one to two mobile phones. Mobile phones are anywhere and everywhere on the streets. Now there are games, music and camera functions available on a mobile phone and the usage of it is increasing every day. Mobile phones are not just used for calling or texting anymore. Although some think the use of a cellphone in a learning institution, specifically school can be used positively in order to enhance the students learning, the same cell phone can effect students negatively in many ways. Some people argue that cell phones are helping them learn more, and are helping them to contact their family in emergencies because it is always with them and is fast. However, they do not realize that cell phones are not helping them learn. Students are not learning if they are using their phone in their class. When it comes to contacting family in emergencies, the student can use the teacher’s phone that is provided on the desk in case of emergency. Years ago, there was no technology like cell phones, but these days’ students cannot go anywhere without their cell phone because they are so addicted to it. Phones are just there to addict people and get their focus away from them. Overall, banning cell phones in high school and college is a really good decision. The first reason why cell phones should be banned in school is that it can distract students from learning. Apps such as Facebook and Instagram are addicting because they let students interact with their friends and family whenever they want. However, it takes away a student’s focus as well. If the student is not engaged in what the teacher is teaching, the teacher is more likely to become angry. They will either keep the student’s phone or warn them. If that happens, students will get mad and will continue doing the same thing to make their teacher angry. Also, it is the teacher’s responsibility to make their students learn. Teachers are given some goal that they should reach it by the end of the semester when they will have to have some percent of the class passing. If the student is not focusing on their class and is making a bad grade, the principal will blame the teacher for that. If by the end of some time they do not reach the goal, the teacher could lose his/her job. Furthermore, when the student cheats by using their phone to search, answers and gets caught by their professor, the student is likely to get expelled from their college or their class. According to the survey done on more than 2,000 middle and high school students by the News National, more than half of the students said that they have used their cell phone to cheat and more than 30 percent said that they have used their cell phone at least once during the test (cbsnews). This proves that cell phones are ruining students’ education. Students who cheat are not learning and those who are caught cheating will not be able to gain trust from their teachers. Every
