Abortion is a controversial topic, within the medical field. Some individuals believe that abortions should be deemed as illegal, because it is killing an innocent human being. Other individuals believe that a woman has the right to determine if she wants to bring a child into the world. An abortion remains a hard task to execute due to the belief, life begins at conceptions, religious limitations, political views, and the government. All fifty states within the United States of America, including the District of Columbia should condone abortion because women should have the right to determine what happens to her body. The procedure of abortion should be permissible because the fetus is unable to feel, preventing the birth of an unwanted child, it is a way to control population, and by legalizing this operation it provides women with empowerment by giving them control of their body. …show more content…

In 2010 the Britain’s Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, stated that the cortex needs to be fully developed in order to develop the sense of pain. The cortex does not become fully developed until the 26th week of development, which exceeds the time frame of abortions. Most research done to support this evidence states that a fetus does endure pain during the operation. The biological development needed to feel the sensation of pain has not transpired. There is no scientific evidence that supports the idea that a fetus can sustain pain from an abortion.
