The Shopping Trip Assignment
Going shopping is sometimes a difficult task, especially when shopping for a computer. My goal in the next few days is to figure out my needs and wants when picking a computer that best fits my wishes. There are a few questions I will be focused on, such as: What are my needs/wants? What will be the primary function of my computer? What computer components will I need? Finally, what is my budget? In starting my journey, I have decided I want a Mac laptop that will be purchased in an Apple store near me. I have decided this because I am more familiar with Apple computers and I like that they are less likely to acquire viruses from my experience in using a Mac compared to a PC. Next, I will consider my needs and wants when browsing the Apple store.
My requirements are basic I need a computer that I can use for school assignments, browsing the internet, hearing music and my favorite watching movies. School assignments are based on research and writing so a writing application is a must when deciding on a laptop. Along with these requirements, I also want a computer with a large monitor to better view movies and an HDMI port to connect to my television. Deciding on which computer to go with was actually easier than I thought because I honestly just went with the best. The MacBook Pro was the most expensive from the options, but it also seemed to have the best features along with what I wanted and needed. With regards to the price, I managed to stick to the budget and was also able to get a student discount that Apple stores offers. For most college students, college can be a very expensive experience. Most likely the most expensive thing they will be paying for, other than tuition, is a new laptop. People say that you can survive college without your own computer, I find that very false. Classes today usually involve papers and projects that need to be done on a computer and the only place I could think of that offers free computer usage is the library. The libraries that I know of aren’t open 24 hours of the day; in order to get a project done you will have to conform to their hours. As a college student, I have had to get a job. I never have time to go to the library, which means if I didn’t have my own computer, I would never get anything done. I have just recently purchased an Apple MacBook Pro and after spending a small fortune on it, I am going to evaluate the portability, the speed, the programs, the mouse, the screen, and the battery of my Macbook Pro.

As a young college student walking into a Best Buy to purchase a laptop for college can be a little intimidating. There are many things to consider such as hard drive, what processors are the best, which screen has the best resolution, or would you rather build a computer that best suits you. The options are endless and in most cases it can become overwhelming, due to the rapid expansion in technology a variety of products that are available have increased dramatically in the past 7 years. Online and in-store shopping differentiates in various ways. However, they both are convenient ways to shop. Recently, online shopping has been most convenient for me, but I enjoy both ways of shopping. I believe that shopping preferences change depending on a person’s situation. I noticed that many people are starting to prefer online shopping more than in-store shopping.

SONY is a high quality brand name and has shown me throughout the years that anything and everything they create seems to be a winner. Eventually I decided to get one that was practical in size and powerful enough to handle the most strenuous projects. I ended up decide ding on the Sony VAIO RA834G Minitower. The components in this PC were more than I needed for a price I just couldn’t resist.
