Missoula gives an in depth overview of sexual assaults that takes place in a small town of Montana specifically known as Missoula. This typical college town also known as Griz nation for the football lovers has an outstanding numbers of victims who had to face this kind of predicament ongoing without being acknowledged on how immense the issue is until Jon Krakauer got to interview some victims and wrote about it. He examined the issue of being sexually assaulted by thoroughly explaining who, when, where and how the event took place. Krakauer reveals the truth behind some of the issues with gang rape among football players and the victim. In the end majority of the group will favor the football players more and condemn the victim for being raped. For example, when Beau Donaldson was arrested fans supported him by posting on eGriz stating, “I know nothing about the facts, but I know Donaldson and I have doubts that raped occurred or that this will stick...but my instincts tell me that he didn’t rape anyone (p.53). Some of Krakauer’s best work includes Into the Wild, Into Thin Air, Where Men Win Glory: The Odyssey of Pat Tillman, Under the Banner of Heaven, and many more including magazines articles. Despite his passion for the outdoors and mountain climbing he wrote the book Missoula dedicated to a friend of his whom had been raped.
