Often thought to only be big in European countries sex trafficking is happen in the United States too. Mostly women or adolescent girl are being forced into having sex with people paying for it. Most victims are being tricked into prostitution and become pimped out by the person who they trust but end up being tricked. 2009). The person who goes out and tricks the people are known as recruiters. A common tactic used on people is to have a person act as if they are interested in the person then lead them into the industry by forcing them or telling them that it is a fast way to make a lot of money but do not tell them that it involves having sex with a stranger. Other tactic is to target homeless or runaways and they tell them they will take care of them if they do this one thing but it then turns into being trapped. Also some go to other countries to get workers by giving them false hope they lie to the people telling them things like money will not be a problem, tell them a different job and even say they will live in a nice big house (Farr,2005);(Thompson, 2012). The person who entered them into the business is either the pimp or a helper. The women then become dehumanized and a piece of property to the people who so called cared for them(Williamson, C., & Prior, M. 2009 ). Making the women less likely to run away or reach out for help. The people who run these businesses are picking up innocent women. Both parties are being put at risk by participating in illegal activities to where they can be arrested and charged with a crime that can affect them the rest of their life. The person that is being forced can go through many traumatic situations. The traumatic issues can affect them the rest of their life. Many encounter acts of violence from the person who control them or the people paying for the service. The person being paid can get into bad deals the person they meet could be extremely violent and just want to hurt them. The workers also can go through the process of dehumanized making them feel as a object and feel a loss of identity (Thompson, L.L, 2012).The leader wants this to happen though since the worker then feels that this is the only thing they can do and will not try leave. The sexual transmitted diesase that can occur is huge and is very likely to be contracted. Pregnancy is another thing that can happen anytime sex is involved these are the two big things that can happen and both are unwanted by both parties. Additionally, sex trafficking can be stopped people need to help one another. People often see the red flags for these victims but most of the time turn a blind eye to it. When these people need someone to step in and help them. Often the victims are everyday people who just need help just one person speaking out could save them from so much harm. A solution many people could use
Kotrla, K., & Wommack, B. A. (2011). Sex Trafficking of Minors in the U.S.: Implications for Policy, Prevention and Research. Journal of Applied Research on Children: Informing Policy for Children at Risk: Vol. 2 (Iss. 1), article 5.
“Human trafficking coerces and persuades their victims to cross national borders in search of new jobs and better opportunities and after that they are forced into some sort of labor bondage” (At Issue: Human Trafficking 1). Even though trafficking is a problem in almost every country; poorer countries have a bigger problem with it because they are more desperate for work. Just in 2000, the U.S. enacted their first federal anti-trafficking law, called the Victims of Trafficking Protection Act (At Issue: Human Trafficking 1). Trafficking has just begun to receive notice on how big of a problem it actually is. “Proponents of strict anti-trafficking initiatives say that laws and prevention against trafficking are necessary in order to stem the growing tide of large scale organized crime that profits off of smuggling and trafficking” (At Issue: Human Trafficking 1).
Because of these abuses women could either become prostitutes or can be easily convinced and sold into sex trafficking. Prostitution has been a lucrative underground business for centuries now. Some women willingly go into this trade, and others are forced into this lifestyle. Prostitution can also be classified as a form of sex trafficking humans. As the demand of child prostitutes continue to risk, there will be more young women tricked into the trade. Pimps usually trick young girls by emotionally, physically, and psychologically manipulating them. Prostitutes often work long and hard hours and get little to no pay, while their pimps makes large sums of money each week. The girls may be offered gifts, money, or a new fabulous lifestyle that they could not get at home. Majority of young girls who are prostitutes are runaways so, all of these promises easily persuade them (Finklea,
In many countrys where poverty is huge is where many predators are looking for vurneerable women to take advantage of because of their situation. The poverty in other countries is a contributing factor in the sex trafficking world. As mentioned by Alicja Jac-Kucharski in her article The Determinants of Human Trafficking: A US Case Study many immigrants are brought to the United States of America with the promise a good job waiting for them for when they arrive. To them this is an amazing opportunity to be able to help their family by leaving their country for a few months they believe they can make enough money to help their family because of how poor their country is. These are the factors that make it possible for people in take advantage of people who want to help their families in need. Kucharskii states,” Push factors are those that people experience around them where they live; these include demographic growth, low living standards, lack of economic opportunities, and political repression” Which are the reasons people feel vulnerable to predators who take advantage of them. It is not just pushed factors that play a role in sex trafficking, but also ,”pull factors”. As stated by Kucharskii a pull factor is,” demand for labor, availability of land, good economic opportunities and political freedoms” . People who are trafficked to another country’s are sometimes enticed by what they hear. Such as a opportunity for better lives and jobs, when in reality it is just a lie so that their traffickers can take than away from her family. Sadly as mentioned by Kucharskii most of the people trafficked are women. Which because of all that was promised to them never comes true and in reality they are turning to sell their bodies. Sex trafficking immigrants are growing more because of how
Sex trafficking is when women, young girls, and young boys are held in slavery and forced into prostitution for the financial gain of others in brothels in the United States, Europe, and other developing countries such as Thailand and the Philippines (Sexual Slavery). It’s happened to many women and children throughout many years in many of these countries for money and more power. Often purchased or kidnapped off the street, women, girls, and boys are trafficked across international
Currently, an advocate for sex trafficking she started with posting her story on the internet to share awareness. She explains and validates discussed topics during the course of the show. She claims that pimps gain trust the easiest by “boyfriending in”. She was wined, dined, and bought for until she was forced to repay his “kindness” by prostituting. When her pimp was not happy with her, he beat her viciously and withheld preconceived privileges from her. This seemed to follow a pattern. Rain, who was recruited into sex trafficking at age 11, claimed her pimp only had minors in his “stable”. To keep control of his victims he threatened them by threatening their families. Finally yet importantly is Cindy who, along with other women, were intimidated and trapped within a home to insure their obedience. Their stories depict a world dominated by shame, regret, and fear. This leads the viewer to understand that while a few might willingly choose this life, most are manipulated into it. Dr. Shera Bradley (psychologist) supports this thought, by stating “pimps control women by violent or emotional manipulation, and that no woman escapes sex trafficking unscathed”. Therefore, regardless of choice, a person will still suffer either internally or externally from this life style. This leads to “johns”, if there was not a demand

When most of us think about the sex industry, we think of prostitution or pornography. Usually people in that line of work chose to be in it, but that is not always the case. Human sex trafficking has become the fasted growing business among organized crime, and the third largest enterprise in the world, generating more than $31 billion dollars in profit a year, according to the FBI. Sex trafficking is the most common form of modern day slavery; in the U.S. it consists of mostly women and children between the ages of 12-18. They are sold and sometimes transported to other countries.
Today in our society Human Trafficking is bigger than ever. Men, women, and children are being stolen and traded for sex and labor everyday. As a society we need to stand up and fight against the Traffickers. In addition we need to provide help to people who have been trafficked. Finally it's important to inform every American and even more important to inform the leaders of our country about this awful crime.

Prostitution is the act of selling ones body for any type of sexual intercourse in exchange for money. Today, both men and women are willingly and forcefully engaged into the industry of sex and prostitution. It is most common for young teenage girls to be involved into this industry rather than a male or older woman. There are several different ways to how individuals are first brought into prostitution. One way is to be kidnapped and forcefully put on to the streets by a "Guerilla Pimp". "Guerilla Pimps" are the men who use their ability and force to kidnap young girls and throw them on to the streets to work as prostitutes (Youth Radio). Another way to be introduced to prostitution is by being persuaded by "Romeo Pimps". "Romeo Pimps" are the men who sweet talk you into situations and act like nothing is wrong with it (Youth Radio).
