Serial Killer: Theodore Robert Bundy

Theodore Bundy was an infamous American serial killer who preyed upon numerous young women during the 1970s and possibly earlier. He was associated with at least 30 counts of homicide and suspected of an estimated one hundred or more. Beyond homicide, he also made it apparent that he was capable of other sinister crimes such as rape, kidnapping, and necrophilia. His most frequent method of killing was an attack with a blunt weapon to the head. However, he did not merely kill his victims; evidence concludes that each were also sexually assaulted and sodomized. It is reported that he even revisited his crime scenes to further engage in sexual acts with the decomposing corpses. Moreover, at least 12 of his victims had been decapitated . Despite his plethora of heinous crimes, he was well-liked by his peers. He did notably well in school and aspired to learn. His charisma, intelligence, and striking looks essentially made him a celebrity icon. These characteristics along with his value in academics made him seem an unlikely suspect for the crimes he committed.
Bundy was born to an unmarried Louise Cowell on November 24, 1946 as Theodore Robert Cowell ; he did not know his biological father. His place of birth was at the Elizabeth Lund Home For Unwed Mothers in Burlington, Vermont. Because she was ashamed of his illegitimate birth, she sent young Bundy to be raised by his grandparents in Philadelphia. He, along with the rest of his family and friends, was told that his grandparents were his parents and that his mother was his sister; the purpose of which was to prevent further ignominy.
