“We are moving towards an age of autonomous vehicles” (Schwarz et al., 2013). The self-driving car was viewed as science fiction a few decades ago. Today, technology proves that its future is approaching. Its development has not been simple. There have been numerous challenges with the autonomous vehicle that researchers and engineers continue to solve at a profound rate. They say (Campbell, Egerstedt, How, & Murray, 2010) the autonomous vehicles technical challenges will be developed next generation. But I say commercialization of autonomous vehicles will be seen in the close future because of its software and technology innovation, solutions to ethical dilemmas, and benefits of safety and societal change. An autonomous vehicle is “capable of driving by themselves using artificial intelligence and mechatronics, the integration of electronics, control, software, and mechanical engineering” (Garrett, 2014). They are said to drive more intelligently than a non-autonomous car by reducing cost for car owners, driving eco-friendly, and improving road safety. Many cars in today’s …show more content…

Newspaper, websites, and magazines ignore relevant information and array autonomous vehicle crashes to make interesting articles for public attention. This causes an available heuristic that these cars are prone to crashing. Since it is new in the media, people are uninformed about the benefits it will allocate. Suffusing public with accurate information about autonomous vehicles will compel automobile industries to flourish the technology. These vehicles will not only improve road safety, but it will also allow the elder and physically disabled to drive on the road. (looking for more research on this topic). Since they operate more intelligent than the standard car they will improve environment. And owners will benefit from its eco-driving techniques, work time during travel, and availability for a ride
