Introduction
During this assignment I researched two major companies. The companies that I have looked into are O’Reilly Auto Parts and Advance Auto Parts. For both stores the requirements for a store manager are somewhat the same. The store manager is responsible for operations of the store, the appearance of the store, and the store sales. I will discuss the selection process of hiring. I will also explain the advantages and disadvantages of hiring internally and externally.

The role requires automotive structures, understanding of store structures, parts knowledge and has the ability to identify; trouble shoot and project assist for DIY. They’re responsible for developing and maintaining commercial customer relationships and program growth. A store manager is responsible for attaining financial metrics and maintaining service and appearance standards. Position is exempt and necessitates a minimum of 50 hours a week (Advance Auto Parts, 2016).
Qualifications:
•Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred
•Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers, peers and upper management
•Use Microsoft software effectively (Word, Excel required – PowerPoint preferred)
•Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percent
•Ability to review and analyze business reports, such as profit and loss statement (P&L)
•Hold others accountable, inspect work quality and give feedback in a way that is inspiring
•Ability to work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as
