In support of the constructivist theory of education for future athletic trainers

- Educational philosophies differ from person to person. From behaviorist to constructivist and everything in between, the one thing they have in common is that they attempt to explain how people learn. This paper will explain why I tend to lean toward the constructivist theory of education and defend this theory using a variety of current literature. It is important to note that the theories that are talked about as educational theories are often looked at as both theories of teaching and learning; however most of these theories are not theories of teaching but rather learning (Baviskar, Hartle, Whitney, 2009)....   [tags: Educational Philosophy]

Trainers Use Several Tools Help Them Work With The Animals

- Trainers use several tools to help them work with the animals. One is a bridge which is a stimulus, usually a whistle or saying “good”, that the trainer uses to communicate the precise moment an animal does something correct.2 The term bridge is used to describe the stimulus because it bridges the gap between the behavior and the reinforcer. This immediate feedback is important because the animal may be in the water far away from the trainer and needs to know which behavior was correct. With marine mammals, a high-pitched whistle is often used as a bridge because it can be heard above or below water and is always the same....   [tags: Behaviorism, Operant conditioning, Reinforcement]

Observing People's Behavior at a Fitness Center

- Lets start by understanding that cultures are a melting pot of people’s beliefs, language, behaviors, values, material objects, and norms. Norms are written and non-written “expectations of behavior” that govern a certain location, place, or culture (26). These norms also vary from culture to culture meaning what is a norm in the U.S may not be a norm in India. For example, a norm in America would be tipping a waiter after a meal. Another would be acknowledging someone as you walk past him or her, typically done at work or in a public place....   [tags: gym, culture. fitness trainers]
