The Course Of The Semester

- Over the course of the semester, I have been place in Hopewell Junior School. I worked with an intervention specialist, Gina Ottlinger. Mrs. Ottlinger works with both seventh and eighth grade students, specializing in math and reading intervention, and inclusion in all content. She was a marvelous mentor, and was very open with what interventions she was implementing, and welcoming to me in her classroom. What I liked the most about Mrs. Ottlinger was her communication to the family of her students....   [tags: Education, Assessment, Special education, Teacher]

Now students who are on the quarter system have to transition to the semester system. - Over the course of the semester, I have learned a few things about myself. I have learned that I can be independent, I always knew myself as someone who could do mostly everything on their own. This semester really made me realize how independent I could actually be. Not only have I learned how independent I am I have also realized the importance of time management. With not having a strict class schedule it was a lot different than what I was originally used to. Since the beginning of the first semester of college, I have learned time management skills, the values of family, and the limits of my emotional state. Going Into The First Semester Of College

- Going into the first semester of college, it was difficult to know what to expect. I have no older sibling, and only one older cousin who had told me the biggest change was the social aspect. When he told me this earlier in the summer of this year, I didn’t really know exactly what he meant by that, because I always felt that the social aspect of school was something that came naturally, as a result of being in the same room with people for almost 180 days. - “My Perspective or Art Throughout the Semester” It has been a long semester, in it, I get to know different kinds of art, I get to know that art is not only about paintings hanging in museums, that it is not only sculptures exhibited in the middle of a hallway, but about what represents; there is a lot more behind it. Art has a past, meaning, a history, art has emotions behind it and it is not only about paintings and sculptures, but about the artist itself. Throughout the semester, we learn how to differentiate different movements of art, from realism to surrealism, and from impressionism to expressionism, art is something artists adopt to express their emotions and feelings....   [tags: Cubism, Pablo Picasso, Sculpture]

Time Goes By And Fall 2015 Semester

- Time goes by and Fall 2015 semester has ended. During this semester, I have learned a lot of things and received new knowledge every day for about 4 months, especially in English subject. Professor Kristen Hren, my English teacher in 96 and 1A levels, has guided me in this semester in order to explore further about the academic English writing and reading for both levels. Certainly, to reach university level academic English writing and reading, it takes hard work and lots of practice. As an international student, writing an English essay in a college level is not as easy as others imagine....   [tags: Essay, Rhetoric, Psychology, Academia]

My First Semester Of College Is Hard

- The first semester of college is hard. My half sister, an occupational therapist in training, likes to point out that given the mental development of most eighteen year olds, going to college is one of the most intense transitions of someone’s life. Throughout all of high school I knew I wanted to leave the west coast and move as far as possible. Fortunately I love the east coast even when my cravings for savory Mexican food and dry heat still leave me with pangs of homesickness. In addition to being immersed in a new culture and weather, I was starting over and had to hold my own for the first time....   [tags: Family, Love]

My First Semester Of English Class

- My First Semester of English Class: What has Writing About Driverless Cars Taught Me. With my first semester as a college student at Auburn University almost in the books, it has been quite an experience to say the least. I discovered what I what my major to be. I met lots of new people and made many friends. I learned how to work as a college student. I even learned how to stay up late and how to study (Calculus caused that to happen). My English class has also helped me in many ways. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first semester English class....   [tags: Writing, High school, Essay, Work in progress]

My Last Semester Of High School

- Growing is something I do every year in my English classes. I like to focus on a certain flaw I have in English and work and progress in it. My last semester of high school I decided to challenge myself and take a college prep writing class. I thought I’d regret it, but now I am so proud of myself for taking it. I understood terms you were using that weren’t yet taught to us and I loved that feeling. I remember there was a time you were lecturing us on the terms pathos, ethos, and logos. I knew those terms because that was drilled into our heads in my high school class....   [tags: Writing, Essay, Thought, Psychology]

Reflection Paper On My First Semester

- Rearview Mirror While looking back at my first semester in English Composition 1, I am surprised by how much I actually learned and how much I developed the writing skills I already had. The rough drafts and group work we did helped me a lot during the four papers we wrote. My portfolio of the semester includes four pieces of writing and this reflective essay. The four assignments we had were a culture description, observation, comparison-contrast, and a persuasive essay. During the semester and the papers we wrote, I found out some things that I struggled with but also found that I’m pretty good at certain aspects of writing....   [tags: Writing, Paper, Linguistics, Writing process]

My Second Semester At Boston University

- As I entered my second semester at Boston University, it was time for me to enroll in a writing seminar. I chose to enroll in WR100 B2: Indiana Jones, Ancient Bones, and Culture Bought and Sold. I chose this course because I thought that it would be interesting to learn about the role of history in today’s society. Our first assignment was to assess our writing skills, as well as to list some goals that we had for ourselves. As I wrote this assessment, I looked back at my high school writing career and believed myself to be a solid writer....   [tags: Writing, Paper, Conscription in the United States]

My First Semester Of English 101

- Writing is something that I wasn’t really into. I would rather express myself through art rather then words. Within this class I was able to benefit from a variety of new things as well as refreshing my memory on things that I already knew. - ... You accomplished this by giving quizzes on almost every class day. By giving quizzes even though we could miss as many days as we wanted, our grades were still being affected by not attending. In some ways, although you did not enforce an attendance policy, the policy you did have in place affected our grade more than the standard attendance policy. By not attending classes, not only did we receive a zero on the quiz for the day, but we would also miss out on the discussion for the day, which in turn would affect us on the midterm or the final....   [tags: reflection on my semester class learning]

- ... One reason is because it’s a play. I like to read plays because you get everyone’s opinions and how they view different scenarios. Another reason I liked it is because it is so popular. Everyone knows the title Romeo and Juliet so it was nice actually getting to learn about what the fuss is about. It has been around for so many years, and it is still famous. The way Shakespeare is always dragging things on to make you believe that things could still turn out for the better amazes me. When in Ms. Schreyer 's class, I observed two different groups of students because of the way the class rotations work. The first group that I observed is Ms. Schreyer 's homeroom. My First Year Semester Of College

Mastery of technical language has long been recognized as a predictor of success in any field” (p 62). Plus, I still get excited about writing an unpaid column for my small college newspaper. Success, clearly, is relative.
