Just a Well-mannered Kid

- All of my life I have been known as a well-mannered kid. Sometimes I wonder if there is something wrong with me. Why am I so well-mannered. Recently I heard a song on Pandora.com by a band out of New Zealand. The song lyrics stated very well the position I find myself in. Don't smoke Hate dope Don't laugh at dirty jokes Got a mom And a dad The only ones I ever had And I want to know If I'm coming down with anything And I've got a hero that I'll follow to the end. I often hear people talk about their problems and trouble they have to go through and find that I am not able to relate with them....   [tags: College Admissions Essays]

The Most Wonderful Teacher

- The Most Wonderful Teacher When many of my friends recall Mrs. Brenner's U.S. History AP class, the response they give is "UGH!!. All that work!" I have to admit that I did more homework and essays than I have ever done in my life. But, I learned more from her than I have in any other class. The work was never boring. Mrs. Brenner could make taking notes interesting. We did some fascinating activities such as debates for or against ratifying the Constitution. The best thing about her class, though, was the effect that knowledge still has on me....   [tags: College Admissions Essays]

Spike Lee

- Spike Lee In 1995 I considered Spike Lee's gritty CLOCKERS one of the year's best films; recently I spotted its video in a clearance bin and picked it up. Upon re-viewing, I am struck again by its complexity. It is the first urban drama to depict inner-city race relations with the intricacy such a pervasive cultural issue demands. On the surface it resembles a whodunit, but its main concern is how drugs and violence contaminate entire communities, dramatized in the collapse of one African-American youth's life....   [tags: essays papers]

Obesity and Self- Esteem

- The article I am going to evaluate throughout this essay, fundamentally regards a mother whom lost over nine stone in weight so that, she claims, her four-year-old and her two-year-old daughters would not be embarrassed anymore. I believe this article, though brief, incorporates numerous psychological issues, which are present in daily life. The concerns are primarily socio-psychological in origin, however, they cover a wide range of psychological issues such as self-esteem, peer pressure, social judgeability, eating disorders, and parental-child relationships, to name but a few....   [tags: losing weight]

The KKK

- I have learned that the Ku Klux Klan was in response to the Southern bitterness towards blacks having won freedom from slavery in the aftermath of the civil war. Congress had passed the Reconstruction Acts which divided the South into 5 military districts, each under a general. New elections were to be held in each state with freed, black, male slaves being allowed to vote; this infuriated Southerners. The first branch of the Ku Klux Klan was founded in Pulaski, Tennessee, around 1865, the name Ku Klux comes from the Greek word, Kuklose, meaning circle....   [tags: essays research papers fc]

Rules to Teamwork

- The Challenges of Teamwork Working on teams can normally prove very challenging, with all of the variations in personalities, strengths, and weaknesses, most of these issues are raised face to face with individuals, and can be resolved by finding a room to sit and talk them out. Working on virtual teams is more challenging, since there are a lot of things missing from the person-to- person contact, such as: •Lack of visual cues to understanding context. Many people write email and talk on the telephone in a manner which is completely different than they would talk in person; things that are taken as insults could actually be jokes, or things that are taken as jokes could actually be insults...   [tags: essays research papers]
