Brown Vs. Board Of Education Exhibit

- Brown Vs. Board Of Education Exhibit On Friday April 24, I ventured out to the Krannert Art Museum to visit the Brown vs. Board of Education exhibit. About fifty some odd yrs ago, the United States was practically transformed by that one court case. The Brown Vs. Board of Education case was, of course, a monumental and significant court room decision because it ended segregation in schools, which also later led to further actions towards ending segregation completely. When I arrived at the museum I noticed the area was very quiet and vast with art....   [tags: Art Museum Exhibit]

Brown vs. Board of Education Art Exhibit

- Black and White Walking into Krannert Art Museum, I experienced something I have never experienced before. That something was actually analyzing and appreciating artwork. I have been around artwork before and have looked at many times and I have enjoyed it but I have never really sat down with art to break it down and notice the little details that make it so powerful. Today I did at Krannert Art Museum while looking at their Brown vs. Board exhibit. I was able to break everything down and notice the details and by doing this I got a much more influential experience out of it....   [tags: Art Museum Exhibit Segregation]

Brown vs. Board of Education Art Exhibit

- One of Art’s Messages When I first walked into the Krannert Art Museum, I had no idea where to begin seeing that this was my first visit to the museum. So I asked a man who worked there to point me in the general direction of the exhibit known as “Eight Artists Address Brown v. Board of Education.” The man gave me directions, and showed me into the section for the exhibit. I walked into two small rooms, which I thought was a little small for the work of eight artists. Despite the size, I had no idea where to start....   [tags: Art Museum Exhibit Race Segregation]

The Bodies Exhibit

- Upon entering the Bodies Exhibit, we intruded on a group of students who was just starting their tour. The tour guide was giving an explanation of the human skull that was fairly stretched out by rod like needles in between each cranial bone to deeply express all the bones of the skull. All the facial bones were still attached. The skull appeared abnormally large because of the stretch but the position of the ethmoid bone became more visible and recognizable than before, which was very helpful. The tour guide also stated that the skull was of an adult male and there were numerous ways to identify a male from a female skull....   [tags: tour guide and description]

The Pioneer Exhibit : The Dust Bowl Years Exhibit, And The Purvis And Wilson Helicopter Exhibit

- In the middle of a small western Kansas town that sits among the gold colored wheat fields and just off of the Interstate 70, stands the High Plains Museum, in Goodland, Kansas. This museum offers exhibits on the prairie life and the life of a Kansas homesteader. In all the exhibits to see, however, the Pioneer exhibit, the Dust Bowl Years exhibit, and the Purvis and Wilson helicopter exhibit make this museum particularly interesting. In the Pioneer exhibit, the patron can walk down a small wooden plank sidewalk with a few business displays on both sides where the patron can look into each window and see examples of businesses, like an optometrist’s office, that includes something a...   [tags: Great Depression, 1930s, Dust Bowl, Great Plains]

The Museum For The Impressionist Exhibit

- I recently went to the DeYoung Museum for the Impressionist exhibit. The paintings were exquisite, as expected, but what was shocking was only one female artist out of all the others shown, were by male artists. It parallels with what I have been learning in class, that women artist were completely underrepresented and suppressed because of their gender. I will be describing a brief synopsis about Mary Cassatt’s life. Then I will be talking about the subject of the woman, her mother, in the painting....   [tags: Impressionism, Art, Pastel, Edgar Degas]

Collective Discussion: An Exhibit of the Civilization that was Catalhoyuk

- Representing the vast neolithic civilization that was Catalhoyuk in a single exhibit is a difficult task that requires an incorporation of three specific things: tangible artifacts taken from the site of Catalhoyuk, visual aides explaining the archaeological data regarding the artifacts, and live archaeologists to explain the data to exhibit visitors. My exhibit will include all of these. Laid out in a circular room, with 3 possible entrances--one between each section of the exhibit--my exhibit will include three separate sections that present figurines, food practices, and cultural findings, directly derived from the excavation at the Catalhoyuk site....   [tags: Archaeology]

The Art Piece Of Jen 's Exhibit

- The artwork in Jen’s exhibit was attention-grabbing in many different ways. The images of drunk girls that she has chosen to display are captivating. Some pictures seem harmless, such as those whose faces have been drawn on, while others are more unsettling such as some of the girls who are passed out and slightly overexposed. There is a feeling that you are somehow invading some of the girls’ privacy. Most of the pictures are surrounded by shades of red and black, which also seems political and protest-like....   [tags: Photography, Image, IMAGE, Computer graphics]

Analysis Of The Next Exhibit Planned For The Museum

- In accordance with the board meeting’s decision, the next exhibit planned for the museum will be focused around the struggles faced by civilians on the southern home front during the American Civil War. Although controversial due to recent events surrounding Confederate symbolism in America, the focus of the exhibit will be unique and powerful in its depiction of the conflicts surrounding daily life. When speaking of war, the common man is pushed to the side in favor of the glory of battle and the stories of the citizens are left unsaid....   [tags: Confederate States of America, American Civil War]
