The Goals of Summer

- When May comes for most kids only one thing is on their mind. Summer break. As they finish up their school the kids prepare for long lazy afternoons, swimming, and just being kids. They don’t need to worry about a paper that needs to be done or math homework. Instead they can just sit back and relax. I like many other kids however think of experience and worthwhile experiences when it comes to my summer break. While I certainly don’t want to leave out relaxing besides the beach, a summer break can give me experiences I couldn’t otherwise have such as practicing a new skill....   [tags: summer vacation, summer break]

Themes Depicted in the Play "Summer of the Seventeenth Doll"

- "Summer Of The Seventeenth Doll" is a timeless play as it can be transposed to be as relevant today as when it was written. The play is definitely a tragi-comedy but more than the ideas raised in the statement the play is about change and the inability for some to deal with it, the battle between dream and reality and loyalty and mateship. It also serves as a social document of Australia in the 1950s. Lawler uses symbols, the actions of the characters, the structure of the play and mise-en-scene to effectively portray his feelings to the audience....   [tags: summer of the seventeenth doll]

Maybe this would be your ideal school, but, when would you get to have some time to go to summer camp, or get a summer job, or play a sport with games during the day. Schools with the traditional schedule may actually be a better choice, and not just because kids love summer break. Schools should have a traditional school year schedule instead of a year round schedule because there isn’t a significant difference between the students’ performance, and year round schedules make planning family vacations hard, make the teachers’ job more difficult, and are more expensive....   [tags: better choice, traditional schedule, summer job]

Memories of Carefree Summer Nighs

- ... He reminded me too much of the man I once loved, many years ago; but that man was now lost – gone, forever. I shifted in my seat, and surveyed the rest of the patrons in the cafe. At one table, sat a harassed-looking mother. Her face was the epitome of agitation, as she wiped the sticky chocolate from her daughter’s fingers and frantically tried to stop her toddler from throwing everything in his reach across the room. Empathising with her perfectly, I smiled inwardly, as I recalled the stress of my own children; but they were all grown up now – no point on dwelling on the past, I told myself....   [tags: personal narrative]

Summer Reading

- Over summer we were assigned to read two books. The first one was the loved one by Evelyn Waugh, which was a relatively short book.
