School Uniforms Should Be Mandatory in Schools
For many decades school systems have wondered about school uniforms and whether they are beneficial to the students or not. The typical school uniform is seen, most commonly, in private schools; however, some public school systems have switched to school uniforms. Why should all schools, public and private, switch to a uniform? School uniforms are beneficial to the student because they limit clothing distractions, promote an organized structure, decrease the necessity to buy excessive amounts of street clothes, and will eliminate the controversy of having a school dress code.

Later on in the 19th Century, the school uniform made it to public and private schools. The school uniforms were used to encounter chaos and replace it with disciplinary order. Today, most private schools have converted to some sort of school uniform and some public schools have begun the conversion process. The school uniforms are rather simple and do not lead the student to be fixed upon the latest fashion (HBC). With having the latest fashion, there is always a group that does not have the body type for the style and, if they try to pull off the latest style, they will be a victim of body shaming. Body shaming is when a person is put down because of their own body, whether or not it is their fault. When schools switch to a school uniform, there are typically students, staff, and parents involved. The school board involves these specific people to come up with a more efficient school uniform that is more pleasurable for the student and possibly less expensive on the parents.

Not all school uniforms have to be “dressed to the nines.” Some schools that do wear uniforms on a daily basis reward their students with a revised dress code day where, as long as the outfit goes along with the dress code, the student may wear it to school.
School uniforms are beneficial to the students and should be implemented in schools all over the country. A uniform has many benefits to the students, whether it be for their future or for their current selves. All schools should start the conversion process to enforce having a school uniform. This will allow students to not be distracted by who is wearing what, creating an organized structure, limit the need of street clothing, and eliminate the controversy of enforcing a school dress code.
