School should be interesting and flexible to student interests. Students learn better when they can relate to the material. The material must satisfy curriculum needs, but with a supporting community, and supporting teachers the learning process. I believe that it must follow flexible teaching strategies are the best way to teach in environments which need improvement. Flexible doesn’t imply without restraint but there are a few patterns of flexible teaching strategies which help teachers who desire the success for all their students.
Some students have home lives which help academically, but some don’t. The students which do tend to have a different outlook on schools purpose then those who don’t. For the students which don’t devote time at home to studies poses challenges for the teacher to make sure they don’t fall behind or drop out. In these instances it is important to remember a teacher’s classroom is filled with people, not just students. I cannot pretend the time they spend outside my scheduled time doesn’t make a difference. It is in these cases where a teacher receives th...
Parents withdraw children from school for concerns that are not being managed to their satisfaction. Bullying manifest, basic skills being reinforced poorly, and no one on one interaction, consequently, dissatisfaction within the public school system exists. Under those circumstances, homeschooling in some cases is necessary. Children who are homeschooled apprehend various social settings, maintain the offbeat school scheduling, and acquire knowledge from diverse sources other than teachers, while still maintaining a sturdy set of skills.
The debate over home schooling has been a hot topic for many over the past few years. Home schooling can be defined as, “to teach school subjects to one’s children at home” (Merriam-Webster Online, 2003). However, the main debate is not over whether or not children should be taught at home; rather, the question debated is if home-schooled children are as prepared socially as those children who are traditionally schooled.
Contemplating on the idea of differentiated classroom, it can be seen that it involves the collaborative attempt of both the teacher and students to create a classroom environment that embraces diversity and differences. With these differences, it helps create the realization towards finding new ways to improve the level of appreciation and learning of content. With these, it helps the educator determine the patterns or methods of instruction that can best apply and supplement the needs of students in the classroom. From this perspective, I do believe that this serves as an important foundation for shaping a differentiated classroom.
Classrooms of today are full of students with varying learning abilities and styles, therefore teachers are put in a position to involve each of their students equally so that everyone has the greatest chance of success in their learning. There are many different ways teachers are able to set up the learning environment in order to maximise teaching and learning and cater for the diverse needs of their students. I will attempt to discuss in detail some of these strategies and unpack the potential advantages and difficulties that follow.
It is important to note that it is a right for the children to have a quality education. In this aspect, reasonable learning environments are a critical factor contributing to children education. All parents want their children to have an access to quality and better education. In the quest for such, parents always seek learning environments with competent teachers and better learning facilities. It is therefore, common to see parents always having a choice to make between taking their children to public schools, private school or have the children taught at home. Different opinion about home schooling and public school has recently been a subject of contention. Either way, the two forms of learning should offer the learning child with a better education. Nevertheless, each of the two forms of learning environments should be supported by valid arguments as discussed below.
A student’s learning environment has a significant impact on their academic achievement. (Garas-York, 2010, p. 432) This section will discuss how the environment a student is placed in, whether at home or school, plays a large role in determining their academic success. It will include studies conducted with both homeschooled and non-homeschooled students, and will show how a traditional school setting is often not conducive to a student’s learning
Families who decide to homeschool their children will have to spare much of their time to watch over their children’s progress and education, which could result in reducing the family income as one of the parents must stay home to make sure that everything is prepared and done right for their kids preventing making it impossible for both parents to be employed. Homeschooling have proven that it’s better as an educational system, but it does have some negative effects on the children, homeschool parents should expose their kids to the outside world give them the space to explore and interact with the unknown, expose to other ideas beyond their own, and let them interact with other children who are not homeschooled, they also need to teach them to question all things even the family ideas and way of living.
We ignore the plain fact that students learn at different rates and in different ways” (3). Furthermore, teachers are the main source of knowledge in the classroom. When teaching, teachers determine almost everything that happens within their classroom. Including what information they have students learn, and how they pass on that information. However, over the years, it has been neglected that every student learns differently. Additionally, it needs to be remembered that it is the students who are learning. A school system is needed that can retain all students’ curiosity, individuality, and creativity. For instance, whether it is the amount of homework given, the type of test, the pace of teaching, or the style of notes required, students should not be confined to only one way of
Education is one of the bases of our lives. This means, it is essential to be well educated nowadays because it leads to many special and good developing opportunities. So, being a good student at school and receiving a good grade going to depend on the three parts. Which are the student him/her-self, the student’s family, and his or her school. However, if any part of these three does not acts as it should be, the level of the education might be frustrated. As we discussed that on chapter one, the family is the first institution for their child, which means they must be careful about their performance as “parents.” Also, the second institution that effect on student and his personality is his or her school or even teachers.
There are slow learners as well as a mixture of fast learners in every classroom. These should be taken into consider and activities should be planned accordingly so that slow learners will not left behind and fast learners will not be bored. There are students with learning difficulties which will affect the teaching learning process. These should be taken into consider and teachers need to avoid things happening which as an effect in the teaching learning process. Behavior such as disruptive and destructive shows similar characteristics. These behaviors need to be discussed with the parents and necessary actions need to be taken to create a good atmosphere in the class. Also teachers will be able to identify different cognitive levels and learning styles. Some students learn through audio, some need to see visually while some of them learn by writing. So as teachers we need to have all these learning styles in a lesson to fulfill each individual. Planning should be done accurately which helps in the teaching learning process. Teachers play a great role in handling different children in the classroom. To build up an effective teaching process, these facts need to be taken into consideration. Teachers could think of different ways that they can implement in the classroom in the process of teaching and learning. Group method is one of the main teaching
I have chosen to write this essay about homeschooling. Homeschooling is one option for schooling children, along with public and private schools. Many people do not believe in homeschooling because they do not trust that parents are teaching their children correctly. They argue that parents can’t teach their children without proper training and that without it. They also worry that students will not learn to socialize or function in society and that homeschooling is just a way to hide children from the real world. A lot of people fear homeschooling because they do not know very much about that form of education. On the other hand many peoples opinion is that homeschooling has many benefits and that it gives
Parental involvement in a student’s learning career can make the difference between a C student and an A student. This is not a very controversial idea. However, factors outside of the parents control often make it harder for them to become involved. Today I am writing to you; the parents of my students. I will be asking all of you to take an active role in your young one’s education. I understand that long work hours make it difficult to set aside extra time. But, it must be noted that any extra time you can make will be a huge difference.
In a traditional school, much time is wasted. The students need time to change classes, get out their homework, pass out papers, etc. Even getting to school is a long trek for some students. In a home schooling setting, these trivial tasks are greatly reduced. For example, the first day of school in a public or private traditional school normally means a lot of paperwork and administrative tasks. Students spend most of the day getting lockers and filling out emergency cards so t...
In the classroom teachers need to be flexible to put in to practice many different
In a classroom, a teaching strategy is a generalized plan for a lesson which includes structure, instructional objectives and an outline of planned tactics, necessary to implement the strategies. Reece and Walker (2002) describe a teaching strategy as a combination of student activities supported by the use of appropriate resources to provide particular learning resources. It is that procedure by which new knowledge is fixed in the minds of students permanently. For this purpose, a teacher does extra activities in the class. These activities help the teacher to take shift from one strategy to another. A method of teaching on the other hand is directly related to the presentation of the lesson. The choice of the teaching method depe...
