Population and Stakeholders
There are 540 students at Glen Acres Elementary in grades K-5. The population is predominately Caucasian making up 69% of the student body. 12% of students are Black, 10% are Hispanic, and the remaining 9% are Asian and Pacific Islander. In regards to gender, the female enrollment is 54% and 46% male. Within a system there are always stakeholders, the people who benefit from the system. There are many other people involved that are important to the school counselors in a school. The key stakeholders include the students, parents, the principal, and teachers. The students have the most to gain from the system. All the other stakeholders depend on each other to create an effective system. The School Counseling program sets out to mainly serve the students, parents, and teachers.

Negatives noticed is the amount of work the counselor is given in addition to her daily responsibilities. She is dependable and a person many people in the building go to for several things, she is one of the leaders in the school. However, the principal often throws tasks at her and she ends up doing odd jobs through the day that interfere with what she is actually there to do. For example, the counselor does lunch duty several times a week along with recess duty. This often takes time out of her day instead of her seeing students or running groups she is doing tasks ASCA calls inappropriate. Although it does take up valuable time, lunch duty also doubles as a positive for counselors in some cases. It is a good chance to observe students and see how they behave and interact outside the classroom.
