School and Violence in America

Each day millions of children across the United States go to school to learn, but instead they come face to face with violence generated by their peers, from minor things like trash talking to more major offenses such as dangerous situations involving weapons and bullying. School violence is a worldwide problem that is unpredictable, making it difficult for researchers to narrow down it's causes.
The violence has become more of an epidemic as time continues to progress and it varies on the type of violent offenses that occurs depending on several factors. By having more access to a smart device or easy access to weapons, attacks on individuals has evolved into a something uncontrollable. Both parents and school authority figures have teamed with their local law enforcement agencies to try and reduce the violence, creating resolutions that will both prevent and plan ahead if anything drastic were to occur. Teenagers are two times more likely than others to be victims of violent crimes, In Hillsborough county FL, there is a school resource officer stationed at all high school and middle schools as first responders. School based studies reveal that many violent behaviors have increased among children and adolescents over the years. Also, just as students are in danger of becoming a victim of school violence, teachers are prone to the violence also, eight percent of teachers say they are threatened with violence on school grounds at least once a month. Two percent report being physically attacked each year. Middle school students are more than twice as likely as high school students to be affected by school violence. Many factors play a major role in school violence starting from home training, to interactions with peers and access to the various forms of media. Just by observing how individuals of all ages interact with each other can prove that everyone is different in the way they perceive their world to be. School violence has grown into a disturbing cry for help and the naive society that we live in has come to learn the hard way that no one and no place is safe without proper guardianship. It is in my hopes that someday society as a whole would stop putting the blame on one individual or a weapon, and look at the tragic events as a result of the absence of our camaraderie in this country.
