Save the plant Nowadays, environmental protection has became a mainstream trend, we do all the things trying to make the earth greener, within all of them, recycling plays an essential part. But based on my observation on campus, there is an unsatisfied action appearance. In campus, there are always two trash cans that we can use to put our garbage in, one is landfill other is recycle. What I always see is people don’t care which trash can they are using regard to the garbage. Because they think all the trash will be environmentally safe. We need to reinforce the concept of environmental protection; we should to start to treat garbage as a resource not waste. Try to avoid the use of plastic bag and plastic paper as much as possible. They not only pollute the environment but also help in filling landfills. Second, ASU should establish a green council with a goal to find what waste is being generated and where its coming from, next identify the opportunities, which means to find ways to dispose as mush trash as possible without sending it to landfill (Jonathan). Furthermore, the green council can hold some activity with the theme of recycling contest among the residential halls. If the green council has enough members, the council can send people to make an inspection tour of the trashcans around the campus to make sure everyone throw the right thing to the cans. At the end of every month, the council member can measure and report, identify gaps in programs and evaluate if new efforts are needed. The main goal of the green council is not only to administrate people’s action to save the environment, but more crucially, to make people rethink how can we save the world by our little steps, and until some day, we will realize that recycling is a natural part of our lives, just like drinking
