“Save the Animals: Stop Animal Testing”
In our society there has been many heated debates about animal testing. Many people feel as if animal testing is very important to science, it helps us figure out different things about the body and also helps us in psychology, helping us discover how the brain works. Other people, including the author of this article, Heather Dunnuck, believes that animal testing is cruel and unnecessary. In the article “Save the Animals: Stop Animal Testing” she uses all Ethos, Pathos and Logos.
In this persuasive article Heather’s first reason why animal testing should be stopped all together is that even though “humans often benefit from successful animal research, the pain, the suffering, and deaths of animals are not worth the possible human benefits.” In that reason she is using Logos and Pathos.
The next reason she gave was her own translation of Tom Regan’s words. Heather stated
“Animals do not willingly sacrifice themselves for the advancement of human welfare and new technology.” She also said “When humans decide the fate of animals in research environments, the animals’ rights are taken away without any thought of their well-being or the quality of their lives.” This is also Pathos it makes the reader think about how the animals can’t do anything about being tested on, they don 't have a say they are forced. Her next reason is that the pain and suffering that experimental animals are subject to is not worth any possible benefits to humans. “Animals feel pain in many of the same ways humans do; in fact, their reactions to pain are virtually identical (both humans and animals scream, for example).” She also states “When animals are for product toxicity testing or laboratory research, they are...

...als go through during animal testing. That really brings across the Pathos effect. She also uses a reliable source in almost every one of her paragraphs, that shows ethos because she is uses the information she has found and used them for credibility in her article. She also used reasoning throughout the article which is logos.
My opinion about the topic is that I believe you should always test a new item before you introduce them to humans. I really liked her paragraph about the alternative options instead of animal testing, but unfortunately not all experiments have to do with your skin or eyes. I think experimentalist should do the most they can do to make sure a product is the safest it can be and then you can test it on an animal to make sure it is safe. No matter how awful animal testing can be I still believe that it would be more cruel to test on humans.
