Same-Sex Parenting Since the early 1900s, homosexual people have become increasingly popular and greatly resisted. People that are homosexual face barriers placed upon them by the political system and society. Due to these challenges, homosexuals fought to have the same marital and parental rights as heterosexual people. Same-sex adoption is not prohibited in most states in the United States of America and many places worldwide. Family is not determined solely on blood relations and should be legalized in all parts of the world; because homosexual parents are just as good as heterosexual parents, if not better, and can provide an enriching second chance for many children waiting to be adopted. Homosexual parents exhibit parenting capabilities equal to and sometimes better than heterosexual parents because in most cases they plan to become parents and are already stable. Research shows that the children of homosexual couples are on the same level as children from heterosexual parents in a variety of life-success measures. “…a psychologist at Clark University in Massachusetts who researches gay and lesbian parenting. Gays and lesbians rarely become parents by accident, compared with an almost 50 percent accidental pregnancy rate among heterosexuals, Goldberg said. The dynamics of family is changing and the idea of homosexual parents adopting should be embraced because they help children that would otherwise be lost in the system by not being adopted.
