One of the most important issues for this decade is same sex marriage. There 's lots of debating over this issue, saying it 's against human nature or our religion. Over time people have become more open minded about the idea and now more same sex couples are able to be open about their love with their partner. In Macklemore and Ryan Lewis 's "Same Love" (feat. Mary Lambert), it addressed the problems and hardship that homosexual people have to face against the world. This song sends us a great message, telling us that being gay is nothing to be ashamed of and they could still have the "happily ever after."
Singing from a homosexual perspective, the song starts off with a rapping that tells about the inner struggle that the character have to deal with when they confronted about their love preference. The character 's family tells him that it 's not right to like the same gender and how god don 't like that too. It lets many people who were having or had that same situation to relate and the other ones to understand the pain gay people have to suffer through. Even though loving someone is just something between two people, everyone around them will have a say just because they are not like a traditional couple. Besides family, most religion are against same sex. They always think that love should only be between two opposite sex. While many focus on just the sex of the people, the real thing that they should really focus is the love and emotion between them.
After the rapping, Mary Lambert comes in with a soulful hook, sing that in a lesbian view that she can 't change. The last few lines of the part, singing, "She keeps me warm," refers to her lover that love her so much, so she can 't change or anyone else. I think...

This song really takes people to a journey of a gay person 's entire life. Specially the music video, it started when the baby is born and takes you throw all the different situation in their life. From admitting they are homosexual, to finally getting marry, and getting love together with their lover. The soulful music along with the great voices really explains and talk about the issue in a way that makes it easier to understand and put ourselves in the place. Homosexual people have been fighting for their right for marriage for a really long time. This song totally let us see that love is something that is not just between the two opposite gender. Anyone should have their right to love whoever they want and they can be together, turning old together until death just like anyone else.
