Despite the latter definition’s addition to dictionaries in the past decade, this definition of marriage is still debated. Being a touchy subject in both politics and religion today, it’s been very hard to come to an agreement....   [tags: homosexual, same sex marriage, lgbt community]

Gay Marriage And The Lgbt Community Essay

- Equality for all. Most politicians believe in trying to throw that somewhere in their campaign so they will be supported by the LGBT community. The LGBT community stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transvestite. No matter how much we try to bring ourselves to want to accept them, we just can’t. They are an outcast in society today for falling in love with the same sex, or for being who they truly want to be. In 2011, there were thirty murders committed against the LGBT community, all were classified as hate crimes but nothing else would be done about them....   [tags: Same-sex marriage, Marriage, Homosexuality]

The Issue Of Same Sex Marriage Essay

- The American nation was founded on the principles that were viewed as inalienable by our founding fathers; life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. For most American citizens these rights are granted to them as long as they continue to abide by the laws and standards of their communities. However, there are citizens who pay their taxes and remain within the boundaries of the law who are continually denied these rights. Rights that the founders of this country went to war with Britain to guarantee to each and every American....   [tags: Homosexuality, Same-sex marriage, Marriage]

Same Sex Marriage Should Be Legal Essay

- There are many terms used by media outlets to describe same-sex marriage. Marriage equality is the more fair term, and is also prefered by the LGBTQ community. Gay marriage is the term that is usually used by people who oppose same-sex marriage. The term itself is not necessarily offensive, however, it is not quite as polite. The word “gay” can sometimes have a negative connotation. Also, the idea of same-sex marriage is not just about legalizing marriage for homosexuals. It is about everyone being able to be legally married no matter who it is you want to marry....   [tags: Same-sex marriage, Marriage]

Same Sex Marriage Is Not A Crime Essay

- Why is same-sex marriage a big conflict in today’s society. Why do people oppose it. The world may never know. For many years, there has been a lot of conflict regarding same-sex marriage. It was not until 2015 when same-sex marriage became legalized world-wide. Some states are still outraged with this Supreme Court decision. If the Supreme Court ruled this, then that means that it is harmless and not affecting the American people at all. In my opinion, same-sex marriage is not a crime. Everyone deserves to be happy, regardless of his/her sexual preference....   [tags: Homosexuality, Same-sex marriage, Marriage, LGBT]

Essay on The Debate On Same Sex Marriage

- Same- Sex Marriage Legalization In society today there has been much controversy surrounding the debate on same-sex marriages and its legalization. The lesbian-gay-bisexual (LGB) community’s request for an amendment to the Marriage Act (1996) opened the door for the amplification of public ridicule and discrimination. The experience of discrimination during the struggle for the same rights and privileges as heterosexual couples caused continued stress for same –sex couples. - Debate over the legalization of same sex marriage has been a large debate in the US for a long time. The two biggest groups that partake in this opposition come from either the religious community or by gay and non religious individuals. Discussion of Same Sex Marriage Essay

- Marriage is not about religion because atheists marry; it is not about procreation because the infertile marry; and it is not about finance for it can weave poverty. What it is about is love. For centuries, the battle for gay rights has waged, and will continue to do so until the rights are granted to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people to help secure equality for all. “…LGBT people must lead this effort, as so many of [them] are. Their knowledge and experiences are invaluable and their courage inspirational” (Clinton 4)....   [tags: gay rights, love, lgbt community]
