Every kid believes that a man and women should be together because that’s how they were raised. That’s the same thing I thought when I was a kid until my cousin started dating a woman. I was excited because I wasn’t the only lesbian in the family. I was so relieved that I told her about me liking girls and she completely understood me and didn’t judge me like some people would. She gave me advice on telling my parents, but when I built up the courage to do it, they disowned my cousin for liking the same-sex. That made me second guess my decision about telling them. I didn’t want to be disowned, kicked out, or unloved. My parents are really big on church and the bible. I just wish they understood same-sex couples should be able to get married just as heterosexual couples.
When you think of the word marriage, most believe it is a union between a man and a woman. However, I see marriage as a vow of happiness between two people no matter what their sexuality is. Marriage is a human right, it should not be denied to any person. For years now gay marriage has been a big controversy with religion, children, and finally the traditional way of marriage.
The hardest part of gay marriage deal with religion. Whenever one violates the moral order established by God, they sin and “offend” God. And if you are a good Christian you should abide by it. If two people can be just as happy as a man and a woman why can’t they deserve the same right? Times are changing and the world is becoming more open to same-sex marriage, it is possible to be gay, and still believe in god. In the bible it says “The Lord rained down sulphurous fire upon Sodom and Gomorrah. He overthrew those cities and the whole plain, together with the inhabitants of the cities a...

...re and thus governed by natural law. Being rooted in human nature, natural law is universal and immutable” (TPF Student Action). It applies to the entire human race equally, yet another reason same-sex marriage should be legalized. There are plenty of pros and cons of same-sex marriages, however how can two people who are happy have anything to do with one judging them because they are of the same sex? Love is love. A few years from now, this issue won’t even be an issue anymore, times are changing and we should be more open to change, I mean how else are we going to get along with life? Of course there are going to be many challenges with same-sex marriage but nothing impossible, America as overcomes so many obstacles over time, legalizing same-sex marriage is just another one for the books. Everyone deserves their special someone, who cares if it’s Adam and Steve.
