This year the Navajo District Leadership (NDL) team will develop a strategy to recruit and retain rural area teachers.
Development of Activities:
In January 2016 the DLT will develop goals and objectives to retain and recruit teachers in rural area schools. The team will begin by obtaining the current teacher’s vacancies and how many will become vacant when school ends. Based on current vacancy the team will schedule to attend 10 university job fairs to recruit new teacher graduates. The team will also, develop a plan to retain teachers who are planning on leaving the rural area schools. This plan will include bonus, incentive, and prepaid rent and utilities. This developed planed will be shared with the school’s leadership team.
According to Lorinkova, Pearsall & Sims (2013) leaders plan to improve team effectiveness through thoughtful and planned behaviors. Leaders establish participation and collaboration among members, encouraging them to contribute ideas and take responsibility for team performance. In the second section of this report covered leadership self-assessment which included leader strength, values, and personality. Leaders must have these traits to meet goals and be completive. In the third sections of this report is to develop two personal leadership goals. The first goal is to build a strong team and the second to increase self-confidence. Team building includes building trust, support and respect; having a team work together will meet the mission of an organization. There will be obstacles to encounter but through communication and teamwork an organization can meet the goal. Self-confidence is the ability to believe in you; it is critical to set goals because goals enhance confidence.
