Rudy has been a personal favorite for me because it shows that anyone can accomplish their goal if they set there heart and mind to it. I feel like many people can relate to this movie some point in their life, and that’s why I think this is a favorite movie of many people. For me personally, I have had many moments in my life where I thought I couldn’t achieve one of my goals. For example, I wanted to graduated high school with a 4.0. I was a bad test taker and most of my classes consisted of tests, essentially meaning that if you don’t do well on the tests you probably won’t get the grade you wanting. I know that if more positive things in the put in the world/viewed it will start to make a difference in everyone. Positive movies, books, music and even being more active would make such a big difference. People need to find their passions and do what makes them happy. It will all lead to a positive life that people will enjoy and I promise you that everyone around the world would go out and make an effort to achieve that goal that they never that they never thought they could. It’s the triumphs as well as the defeats, that I will remember most about my life when I look back in thirty years. If I can look back and say, “I didn’t think I could ever accomplish this, but I gave it my all.” Pursuing the next challenge along with being a well-rounded, compassionate person will allow me to consider my life a success in thirty years. Nothing in my life emulates this attitude towards what I will consider a success, in terms of pushing my limits, in thirty years, than my current pursuit of collegiate level sports.
On March 3, 1915 the movie The Birth of a Nation was released at the Liberty Theatre in New York City. This film was financed, filmed, and released by the Epoch Producing Corporation of D.W. Griffith and Harry T. Aitken. It was one of the first films to ever use deep-focus shots, night photography, and to be explicitly controversial with the derogatory view of blacks.
It was a cool, crisp November evening, while five teenagers were hustling and bustling around my house excitedly getting ready for their very first showing of the live version of their all time favorite movie. They knew it would be the best night of their lives. The night of my 15th birthday party, my friends and I all piled into my parents car around 11:00 PM and headed off down the road to the Heights Theater. The movie we are about to see is an all time classic. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the best cult film of all time. The movie has all the three basic elements it should have. It has funny audience participation, wonderful acting, and a great story line.

...n turned upside down. I no longer view writing as a laborious chore but as a unique tool for self-exploration. I can plunge deeply into the sunken recesses of my mind to dig up wonderfully entertaining stories and ideas. Instead of strictly adhering to a preconceived method, I can now allow my ideas to flow unto the page, constructing an infinite array of plots and characters. Most importantly, I can now love the act of writing. Instead of slogging through an endless stream of mind numbing assignments, I can now confront each school paper with every bit of my intellect while enjoying myself. I can also engage in writing for personal fulfillment as I now possess the enlightened view that writing does not have to be boring. I have always admired your character and your work, and I hope to the information in your great contribution to good use.
My analysis over the development of my writing throughout this semester. I will assess many aspects of my experiences with English 1301 up to this point in the semester. I will explain the ways by which I have blossomed as a writer during this time. I will provide brief examples of my work to show what I am basing the evaluation of my writing on. What my conceptions of writing were, at the start of, the semester and compare it to what they are now. I will clarify how my work this semester reflects the concepts of writing and reading we have been working on and studying in class. I will tell about what and how particular reading assignments have been influential in my growth of creative ideas. Lastly, my interpretation of what it means to be a writer, and how my experiences this semester has influenced my opinion on writing.
Until this day, many members of the LGBTQ community are still fighting for their rights and to be accepted for who they are. This community has to challenge political set beliefs such as same-sex marriage to change the societal norm because of who they choose to love and to find their identity. Jonathon Demme’s Film Philadelphia embodies the G and Q in LGBTQ. The protagonist, Andrew Beckett, is fighting an ongoing battle with AIDS but has continued to excel in his job at a Prestigious Law Firm in Philadelphia. Beckett has kept his identity to himself due to some homophobic remarks made by his boss’s in fear of losing his job. Soon enough, Beckett started to show what looked like lesions on his face. He was then sabotaged which caused him to lose his job due to suspicion of Beckett’s gay identity. This could have been questioned because of the connection of lesions to Aids and Aids to homosexuality. Beckett ironically proceeds to hire a prejudiced lawyer, Joe Miller to help him with his case of injustice and prejudice actions done against him. Beckett and Miller won the case against the head partners in the firm for firing him, but Becket lost his own battle with AIDS and lost his life. The root of prejudice and discrimination against Beckett is led by the idea of an over sexualized LGBTQ community derived from Social Media and Hollywood.
On June 6, 1943, in Greenbow, Alabama, an unexpected hero was born with a crooked spine and strong legs. Forrest Gump is not an expected conventional hero, however his accolades and accomplishments suggest otherwise. A hero is someone who inspires and instills good morals upon others by their courageous and outstanding acts. Forrest demonstrates these characteristics multiple times during his heroic journey. Whether it be diplomatic pingpong, fighting in the Vietnam War, becoming a local football legend at the University of Alabama or donating money to a deceased friend’s family, Forrest influenced many people with his unselfish and charitable acts. Joseph Campbell’s monomyth consists of the following stages: taking place in an ordinary world, a call to adventure, refusal of said call, meeting with a mentor, crossing the threshold, trials and tribulations, an approach to the final challenge, an ordeal, a reward, the journey back, a purification or resurrection into the normal world and a return home with the capabilities to alter the world in which he lives. Many heroes follow this journey and Forrest Gump is no exception.
This movie was inspiring and encouraging to anyone who is struggling with something. Overcoming his controversies in life became the main point of the movie. Knowing that this movie was based upon a true story inspires the people even more.
The movie overall had a tremendous impact on my personality since it made me realize that every successful man in the world whether its Bill Gates, Chris Gardner or Carlos Smith have gone through immense hardships, struggling phases and complications in their personal and professional life to achieve the status, prestige and respect that they have today. They could have accepted these problems to adjust themselves with the existent scenario and situations, but the actual triumph of these people lie in recognizing the fact that all these problems and toils are there germinate greater resistance, potential of perseverance and willpower in them in order to transform them into a person who is fearless and disciplined enough to handle any kind of difficulty with extreme wisdom and sagacity.
Despite any hindrances in one’s life, it is important to treat every individual as an equal, functioning member in the community. It is simple to act the way society wants you to, but it is important to stray away from debilitating stereotypes and prove that individuals who are different and may have more complications in their life can be powerful and make a difference in the world. As I continue through life, I will take with me an important lesson that I have been told before, but did not quite understand the significance of until now: despite any obstacles, everyone is capable of achieving greatness.
Conclusion Time: The “glorious” life ain’t all that it’s cracked up to be. Because when a person wakes up from the fantasy of having everything they want, they are able to realize that money is nothing more than paper with a dead man’s face on it. The youth should know that there is more to life than wealth. Look hard, and they will be able to find what I’m talking about.
I believe that we can all agree that the movie Forrest Gump is an American classic. So what’s so special about Forrest Gump? A good starting point is to look at Forrest Gump, the character, instead of the movie as a whole. To just say "he's simple," is an understatement. Forrest is a man who has mighty morals, firm loyalty, and an amazing heart. What is intriguing about Forrest is how he is free of prejudice and judgment of those close to him. He accepts Jenny for who she is regardless of the situation she is in. He simply sees past it. Likewise, his admiration and respect for Lieutenant Dan doesn't change after he becomes disabled. The film displays many issues of race, but with Forrest and his friend Bubba, it’s a nonfactor. So much so that when Lieutenant Dan asks them, "Are you twins?" -- Forrest's "We are not relations, Sir" is said so matter of fact. To Forrest, it's obvious they're not brothers because they're not related, not because one is black and the other is white.
For this project I selected A Walk to Remember written by Nicholas Sparks and directed by Adam Shankman. The cinematography was done by Julio Macat. The book was released in October 1999 while the movie premiered in 2002. At large the book and the movie tell the same story except for the period. The book is set in the 50’s but the movie was set in the mid 90’s to attract teenagers rather than alienate them. A Walk to Remember is about a girl named Jamie (Mandy Moore) and a boy named Landon (Shane West) who played the lead roles in the movie. The movie is a good interpretation of the movie as it captures the most important points with a few additional details. At large the movie illustrates the scenes described in the book well by showing how Landon transformed from a moody and reckless jock in high school to a loving and caring man. Like the book, the movie shows the scene with Jamie warning Landon to not fall in love with her. Jamie even reminds Landon to not fall in love with her when Landon confesses his love for her. When Landon finds out Jamie is terminally ill, he does everything he can to fulfill all her wishes until she passes away.
The time to breathe before advancing further in my future projects, the difficult moments instead of discouraging me, these moments give me motivation and the necessary energy to move forward. I am optimist but realistic. My parents taught me that we live in a world that is constantly changing and to succeed we need a smart plan and the ability to adapt and adjust to the changing world environment but more importantly one need to prepare one’s self to succeed. We need discipline and above all an unshakable will to resist difficulties when they happen. “An ongoing work of art” would probably be one of the best ways to describe my life. From very early on in life, I have learn that I can be the artist of my own life through guidance and hard work, I learned that we are the architecture of our life, the artist of our own destiny through work, commitment and determination. Every route taken or not taken will somehow impact our existence and leave a trail like a shooting star in the night sky, the beauty of the trail depends entirely on the nature of our actions in life.
