I decided to use the root cause analysis method in order to think and try to resolve my problem.
The first and second step is to define what my problem is. Recently, I have been battling feelings of depression. At first, I dismissed the feelings as something temporary. When the feelings persisted for a couple of months, I decided to address the issue. I did not want to go to the doctor because it felt like that would not help me. I did not want to take antidepressants or pay for someone else to fix my problem. Money and time is something I do not have. Also, it feels like seeking professional help is not necessary right now. I seem to be having normal emotions and physical responses so far. It’s not a serious issue yet, unless the problem persists after making changes to my own life. I have been through depression before, and I know I can make attitude and lifestyle changes to improve my quality of life before the problem escalates. This means that I have to identify why I am feeling like that and make changes in my life to make myself relatively happy or content again.
The third step is to identify what

The devil is in the details. Stress is a big contributor towards my struggle with my emotions, but the real issue is the fact that I am holding myself to perform the impossible. I am expecting myself to do way too much. I am trying to provide for myself and my family with no regard for my personal ambitions. I absolutely hate working the night shift, but it is all I can do right now to pay for all of the bills as if I was living on my own. There is no room to save up any money and I am living paycheck to paycheck. Even after budgeting money and managing time there is zero left over for me on everything. To top it off, I have my mom over my shoulder questioning every decision that I make and asking why I cannot afford anything. I cannot live up to my own expectations much less those of my

According to Heath Guides, “ Talking through your depression with a mental health expert (called psychotherapy) helps many people. For some, it works as well as taking antidepressants. Since beginning Penn Foster, it has been a challenge to balance out all my reasonability’s as an adult. From working 40 hours a week at my local Walmart, to volunteering a few hours of each day at my local SPCA. My life is full of chaos. I rarely get any “me” time and when I do I am trying to finish up my assignments. Working at Walmart is not really stressful, granted we are a very high volume store but all I really do is stock shelves, and assist customers when needed. The stressful part becomes before I actually make any money. My Walmart schedule is 1 pm till 10 pm. So bright and early, 8 am I am up on my way to the
Depression is an illness within itself that affects the “whole body”. (Staywell,1998) The body, feelings, thoughts, and behavior are all immensely altered when someone is depressed. It is not a sign of personal weakness, or a condition that can be wished or willed away. For some people depression is just temporary, but for others it can last for weeks, months and even years.

In the confinements of my mind, I deny my feelings. It’s a coping strategy that I mistakenly think is healthy and is the right thing to do. At the age of 22 I’m starting to feel the effects of abandoning my emotions. I’m scared to express how I am feeling without others judging me. I find myself wondering exactly when I outgrew emotional bravery. Maybe it got lost somewhere in junior high amidst social anxieties and trying to fit in. I’ve adjusted my expectations, avoiding the hard, the difference, and the vulnerable. I’ve learned tricks that closes the gap between reality and expectations just to make it a little easier. Who needs to express their emotions in a healthy manner? Those who are surrounded by me will get what I’m trying to say,
I have always wanted a finer life for myself. I have faced a lot of obstacles throughout this journey. The first step in this process was to graduate from high school, then gain a job then proceed to college. I had accomplished the first two, but it seemed like the last one keeps getting to me. Prior to college starting, I had so much energy and so much confidence, but as time went on I slowly began to lose interest. I was so stressed out with working and not knowing if was going to have enough money to pay for my rent, car note, and take time out to study for school so then I became hopeless. College was starting not to become as important to me as it once was. I stopped attending college and spent additional time working. However, I was still unease.

Almost everyone has experienced depression, at least in its mild and more temporary forms as loss and pain are inevitable parts of life. When individuals suffer from mild cases of depression they may feel sad, apathetic, passive, and discouraged, the future may look miserable and life may not be enjoyable. These reactions are normal as many studies show, however these feelings normally fade away after the event causing it has passed or the individual comes to terms with the situation. Clinical depression is more frequent and symptoms are more intense, and as Oatley and Jenkins explain; the duration of the symptoms are out of proportion to the person’s life situation.[3]
Depression is defined as an illness; the feelings of depression persist and interfere with a child or adolescent’s ability to function. Depression can be a very difficult and painful experience that affects not only the individual suffering from it, but also the people around them. There comes a point in some peoples’ lives where social isolation, low energy, sadness, low self-esteem, and the feeling of hopelessness, cannot be taken anymore. The feelings are so strong and persistent, that the victim becomes severely unhappy, which can then result in depression. Clinical depression has many related symptoms trouble sleeping, eating disorders, withdrawal and inactivity, self-punishment, and loss of pleasure. People that are depressed do not like to do things they may usually like to. However, there are many differences between feeling depressed and actually suffering from depression, the disease. Any person feels depressed at some time or another in their life. They feel worthless, tired and tend to want to be alone without human interaction, this is normal. Depression brings on poor concentration or inability to think and make decisions (Kist 26). Surveys that have been taken that show approximately 20 in 100 people suffer from depression at any one time. About one if four Americans will suffer from a depression over the course of their lifetime. Depression strikes men and women of all ages, in all races, but most studies indicate that women are more often afflicted. Depression comes in many different types: major, manic and dysthymia are a few. A chronic, physical illness, drug habit, death of a loved one; or a problem in a marriage cause major depression. Even though most people with major depression will recover, half will suffer another episode (Hales 38). People with severe cases of major depression can’t work, study, or interact and eventually can’t feed, clothe or clean themselves (Hales 38).Manic depression is a type of depression that goes from a person being extremely happy and then becoming severely depressed (Kist 107). Being in a depressed state can be life threatening. People suffering from manic depression show many symptoms. A few major ones are hyperactivity; talking fast, inability, fear of dying, and jumping from one topic to another during a conversation (Kist 39). Another type is Psychoanalysis. Psychoanaly...
Depression is a murky pool of feelings and actions scientists have been trying to understand since the days of Hippocrates, who called it a "black bile." It has been called "the common cold of mental illness and, like the cold, it's difficult to quantify. If feelings of great sadness or agitation last for much more than two weeks, it may be depression. For a long time, people who were feeling depressed were told to "snap out of it." According to a study done by National Institute of Mental Health, half of all Americans still view depression as a personal weakness or character flaw. Depression, however, is considered a medical disorder and can affect thoughts, feelings, physical health, and behaviors. It interferes with daily life such as school, friends, and family. Clinical depression is the most incapacitating of all chronic c...
Depression is an austere subject that can only be resolved if the impacted individual wishes it to be. Forcing a resolution on someone will never help, and it can often hurt said person. About 70-80% of people who have or had depression recover from their symptoms, but 20-30% of those people relapse back into their depressed state. Relapse rates are terrifyingly high, with at least half of the people who have had an episode having another. And 80% of people who have had a second episode will have a third. Despite many ways of preventing depression, there is no real, surefire cure for it. It is as different as the people with it. You cannot choose to have depression, but you can choose to overcome it.
Emotions and feelings are some of the driving forces in our lives and essentially control our reactions, ideas, and choices. Emotions allow us to form connections with others, make decisions about the world around us, and provide us with the motivation to accomplish various tasks. However, emotions generally come with a lot of confusion and variability due to how differently people utilize and deal with them. One common emotion I feel that all people deal with, and handle differently is anxiety. Anxiety can be an extreme motivator, or the complete opposite, depending on how a person reacts to the feeling. Overall, anxiety is a complex emotion that, in extremes, can disrupt a person’s daily life, or more commonly, make a person feel upset
