The most significant writer in all of English literature William Shakespeare was born in 1564 to a glove maker in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. Shakespeare attended grammar school in 1582 he latter married an older woman named Anne Hathaway and had 3 children with her. Around 1590 he left his family and travelled to London to work as an artist and playwright where he became part- time owner of the globe theatre. His career bridged the reigns of Elizabeth II and James II. He was a favourite of both royals. William Shakespeare is the best playwright in the world because he creates an atmosphere of tension and excitement in act 3 scene 1 by using puns, contrasting people and using diverse languages.
William Shakespeare embrace social and chronological context by taking the story and poems from contrasting people for example Arthur Brooke’s poem-the tragicall historye of Romeus and Juliet which was witnessed in 1562, 13 centaury feuding families the Montecchi and Capelleti families. Romeo first known as Romeus is a Montecchi, now recognised as Montague, Juliet is a Capelleti now known as Capulet. Both families have a rivalry of each other and only care about their prominence and civility.
In act 3 scene 1 it shows numerous signs of language such as repetition such as the word “Hot “for example when Benvolio is speaking to Mercutuio” I pray thee, good Mercutio, lets retire the day is hot”. The repetition emphasises on it also makes us have a better understanding of what’s happening for example he is saying it is hot. When Shakespeare begins with Benvolio pray thee, good Mercutio, lets retire, the day is hot, the Capulet abroad, and if we meet we should not scape a brawl, for now, these hot days, is the mad blood stirring.” Right ther...

William Shakespeare is a genius for writing Romeo and Juliet because it captured humankind so well that even centuries after he has died, thousands of people read his work for pleasure and some for consciousness, others try and figure out what type of person Shakespeare was.
I think Shakespeare creates an atmosphere of tension and excitement by using 3 different device’s destiny, love and violence in act 3 scene 1 by always changing the moods he starts off with his characters in a kind pleasurable mood by making Mercutio wind up Benvolio, in the middle the climax changes as there is a brawl, at the end Shakespeare switches the mood to a sadness he also made this scene great as Shakespeare is using morals for example one of them can be don’t keep secrets from the people you love or enemies even if it’s for the good.

Did you know that Romeo and Juliet was one of the biggest love story of all time. Romeo and Juliet is a story of two star-crossed lovers from two families the Capulets and the Montagues. The Capulets and the Montague had a big fight that made the families very angry at each other. Romeo and Juliet decide to get married. The two couple marry and run away. In the process both of them will die. When it comes to Romeo and Juliet who are the top three people that caused the two to die. The two people that are chosen are Friar Lawrence and Lady Capulet. Friar was chosen because he is the one that married Romeo and Juliet. Lady Capulet was chosen because she is forcing Juliet to marry Paris which is making Juliet want Romeo even more. The third thing
Who would be willing to die for their loved ones? Romeo and Juliet would and did. Romeo and Juliet’s love and death brought two families together who could not even remember the origin of their hate. When the parents saw what their children's love for each other, they realized that their fighting had only led to suffering and insoluble conflict. Romeo and Juliet loved each other to an extent that they killed themselves rather than live apart. They did it with no hiatus. Juliet says before she kills herself, “O happy dagger, This is thy sheath. There rust and let me die.”( 5, 3, 182-183) demonstrating how she would rather die than not be with him.
In Act IV, scene III of The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Juliet is forced to make a decision; take a sleeping potion gifted to her by Friar Laurence and risk possibly being stuck in the Capulet family tomb, or marry Paris. To her, marrying Paris is not an option and so she drinks the vile. Although, before consuming the Friar’s remedy, Juliet expresses her worries in her soliloquy. To do this, Shakespeare manipulates imagery and the rhetorical device of questioning to reveal his main character’s deepest and darkest fears.
Many people have fears of things that they are afraid of. It’s natural to have fears because it’s part of human nature. In the play Juliet has to decide wether or not to drink the potion. In Shakespeare’s play he shows Juliet’s fear by using choice of words and imagery.
Romeo changes throughout the book. When Romeo went to the Capulets party, he was in love with Rosaline. He saw Juliet and immediately loved her. In act two scene two it Romeo says this about Juliet, "Two of the fairest stars in all the heaven, Having some business, do entreat her eyes To twinkle in their spheres till they return." He compares her eyes to stars in the night sky. Romeo talks about Juliet and is wanting to talk to her. This shows how Romeo is loving and sweet. In the last act of the book Romeo sees Juliet dead in the tomb. She is not really dead, but he doesn't know that. He kills himself so he can be with her in heaven. Romeo is a very loving person, but in one scene he turns into a very hateful person.
“O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name;” (Shakespeare, 536). In the book, ‘Romeo and Juliet”, by William Shakespeare there is a deeper meaning that Shakespeare is trying to portray other than parents cannot control their children’s hearts. He is trying to portray that a name is only a name and it doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things and that even with a different name that person will still be the same person they have always been. Shakespeare is using the characters: Juliet, Romeo, Lord Capulet, Friar Lawrence, and the Nurse to get this message across to the reader or the viewer.

Shakespeare wrote many successful plays such as, Julius Caesar, Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet was written in the mid-1590s in London and even today it is considered to be one of the greatest plays ever written. “But soft, what light through yonder window breaks?/ It is the east, and Juliet is the sun/ Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon/ Who is already sick and pale with grief/ That thou her maid art far more fair than she/ Be not her maid since she is envious/ Her vestal livery is but sick and green/ And none but fools do wear it. Cast it off!/ It is my lady. Oh, it is my love/ Oh, that she knew she were!” (Shakespeare II ii 2-11).
Created in 1595, Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is about two star-crossed lovers from opposing families who hold an ancient grudge. The theme is about love and hate throughout the play.
William Shakespeare is known as the greatest dramatist the world has ever known and remains the world's most popular author. No one can ever replace the famous plays that Shakespeare wrote. From tragedies, histories, and comedies that Shakespeare made. This story made me realize how superstition has a place in our lives. The possibility that people are able to foretell the future, or how are lives are controlled by fate, things happen for a reason and that just how things are meant to be. The concepts of good and evil are always unclear. This play is a perfect example of the great things Shakespeare accomplished, a dramatic yet tragic story line. This play gave me a better perspective not only of William Shakespeare, but the true power of words.
What makes a piece of literature relevant or irrelevant to a society? There have been many debates on the relevance about particular pieces of literature, especially old literature, in the modern day. Their relevance can be judged by how they address issues happening in society when they were written compared to those same issues today. It can also be judged on whether the themes present can apply to the modern day. And even if a story portrays issues that are either resolved or irrelevant today it can still have value on how it portrays human nature The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a relevant work for a person in modern times due to its themes on suicide, human recklessness, and violence and revenge.
Shakespeare is well aware of the contrasting moods in the beginning and in the end of the scene. He increases this contrast even more by pointing it out to the spectators and
Shakespeare to create a lot of contrasts and moods, as and when he wants to.
Originally, the story of Romeo & Juliet was a poem written in 1562 by Arthur Brooke and was called ‘Romeus and Juliet’. Shakespeare based it on this poem by adding more characters such as Benvolio, Mercutio and adding more events such as the Capulet Ball. The poem had taken place in nine months, and Shakespeare changed it to four days to make it more dramatic. Shakespeare took the choice of setting this tragic love story in Italy because in the Elizabethan times, Italy was known as a romantic, wealthy country where people were passionate but also hot-headed and fought a lot. Reputation was a very big deal in the Elizabethan times and that was few of many reasons why Shakespeare had set the play in Italy. As well as reputation, there was a huge deal of parental influences. Children had to marry who their parents selected and found most suitable for them. Shakespeare was very against this, and with all his work, he wanted to get his attitude across.
