Roman Catholic Church The Roman Catholic church is also known as the Catholic Church. It is one of the oldest religious institutions in the world. It has around 1.3 billion members worldwide making it the world’s largest Christian church. The traditional Catholic’s beliefs are that the Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was born around 6 B.C. in Bethlehem. His early life is not known very well but the later part of his life is known very well and is recorded in the New Testament in the bible. “Jesus is considered the incarnation of God and his teachings are followed as an example for living a more spiritual life. Christians, believe he died for the sins of all people and rose from the dead. (Jesus Christ)” There are around 1.3 Billion people who are a part of the Roman Catholic Religion. About 7% of all catholic people live in the United States. About 25% of the people in the United States are Catholic. The Catholic population in the United States has been influenced heavily by immigration of Latinos. The church still thinks that it is a sin because it says it in the bible but they are still children of god and should be treated the same. For a person who is having homosexual thoughts it is not a sin. For a person to sin they must carry out the act because thinking about it is not the same. The church does not believe in any pre-marital sexual activity because they say it is sinful and immoral. The catholic church says that marriage is supposed to be between a man and a woman and is permanent. They do not believe in gay marriage so it is a sin.
