Comparison the trait of leadership with other leadership models. Leadership is an art to influence subordinates in such a way that they voluntarily and willingly do the pre-specified amount of work in terms of specific objectives. Leadership includes influence and change and it is the art of managing people with others. There are four kinds of leadership traits that behavioral, contingency, transformational, and transactional leadership. Behavioral theories of leadership are classified as such because they focus on the study of specific behaviors of a leader. For behavioral theorists, a leader behavior is the best predictor of his leadership influences and as a result, is the best determinant of his or her leadership success. A contingency theory is an organizational theory that claims that there is no best way to organize a corporation, to lead a company, or to make decisions. Instead, the optimal course of action is contingent (dependent) upon the internal and external situation. A contingent leader effectively applies their own style of leadership to the right situation. Transformational leadership is a style of leadership where the leader works with employees to identify the needed change, creating a vision to guide the change through inspiration, and executing the change in tandem with committed members of the group. Transactional leadership is a style of leadership in which the leader promotes compliance of his/her followers through both rewards and punishments.This essay will introduce the trait of behavioral leadership by comparing and contrasting with the trait of contingency, transformational, and transactional.

For transformational approach, the leaders are more likely to change and bring the innovation by recognising employee’s concern and needs. The leaders like to think about the old problem by a new way. The leaders also inspire the employees not only believe the leaders but also believe themselves that they can create more interest for organisation. The leaders ask employees to focus on the interest of the organsiation rather than themselves. For transaction approach, the leader is kind of like the manager as the leader can reward and punish the employees to promote them. Employees can get rewards or punishment for their own effort. That means employees can get more their own interests if they did more tasks or get punishment if they did not finish the requirements.
