The Role of Communication and the Internet in Society

How are Americans being informed about the government? How do young adults form political opinions? The public communication is an important factor in today’s government. Politian’s, board leaders, organization leaders and members of each community all need to project their message effectively in order to operate in society. The way the public interacts and how it is applied to the social aspects of American leadership greatly impacts American citizens.
Public communication is a very large topic to talk, also the definition will change as the technology level change. That mean it will not have a complete and strong definition of it. However, there still some definition could most likely fit this topic.
The definition of public communication would be that “any communication by means of television (including cable and satellite), radio, newspaper, magazine, billboard, mass mailing, telephone bank or any other form of general public political advertising. Communications over the Internet are not included in the definition of public communication.” Another way to look at the definition of public communication is that “Public communications denotes communications between persons as equals. It is the receipt and exchange of messages, ideas and opinions. Means of public communications evolved over time with the development of technology and mediums of communications. Likewise, public opinions, policies and ideas evolved as society's attitudes and opinions changed. However, the exchange or transaction of ideas remains constant. People respond and react within public groups, thereby contributing to and shaping public discourse.”

...ss working in these new mediums. The amount of people on the internet increases every day, and it’s not decreasing any time soon. In order to achieve political success, the future lies in the ability to use the internet and new media to your advantage.
