“When we think of nonverbals we think of how we judge others, how they judge us, and what the outcomes are… we are also influenced by our nonverbals, our thoughts, and our feelings, and our physiology” (paragraph 6). Amy Cuddy is a respected women, known for her compassion and care to inspire other to better their lives. In the beginning of her speech Your body language shapes who you are published in 2012 on Tedglobal, she offers her “life hack” to the audience, assuring them if they improve their non verbals and body language it will improve their life in many ways. Cuddy begins building her trustworthiness and credibility with the audience by quoting respectable sources, giving convincing facts and statistics, and successfully employing emotional appeals by giving a heartbreaking personal story. Amy Cuddy uses her strategic persuasive skills Ethos, Logos, and Pathos to connect with her audience and get her message across.

Throughout her speech, Cuddy uses many respectable sources that established her credibility and appeal to ethos. Ethos is a means of convincing the audience of the speakers character and credibility. Establishing her credibility helped persuade her audience, as well as build her argument. These reputable sources include, “Nalini Ambady, a researcher at Tufts University”, “Alex Todorov at Princeton”, “Jessica Teracy” a professor of Psychology at the University of British Columbia, “Social Psychologist Marianne LaFrance”, and her main

collaborator “Dana Carney, who’s at Berkely”. Quoting these respected professionals improve Cuddy’s credibility by showing she has reliable sources that go with her argument. She not only does she use reputable sources to appeal to ethos, she also established that she...

In conclusion, Amy Cudy used her strategic persuasive skills Ethos, Logos, and Pathos to explain the importance of our nonverbals. She did just limit herself to these effective ways of persuading, she also used pictures and videos during her speech that helped go along her with message, as well as made the audience laugh, to help connect and engage the audiance.
