In the 1960s and 70s abortion in the United States was taking a more liberal approach and it was becoming more acceptable for reasons such as health and rape. Since the famous case of Roe vs. Wade in 1973 abortion has been legal with few restrictions. A big point when it comes down to deciding restrictions on abortions is late term abortion and also underage abortion.
Abortion dates all the way back to the 13th century, but in those days abortion was considered shameful and if was not preformed after the fifth or sixth week by then considered homicide and was punishable by hanging. Abortion was some what prohibited in the United Sates up until 1960s and 70s when several states started allowing abortions for a few things such as health, rape, and incest. On January 22, 1973 the supreme court ruled “in a 7 to 2 majority vote, the abortion laws of the state of Texas were struck down as a violation of a woman's privacy in deciding to terminate a pregnancy” (Rich, Alex K.Wagner, Geraldine. In conclusion abortion has been a high profile case for many years it’s debated by just about everyone and is always a hot topic in each political race. Abortion is a sensitive issue and whether you’re pro-choice or pro-life everyone has their difference and is entitled to their own opinions.
