Djibouti
The republic of Djibouti is a country located in Eastern Africa on the Gulf of Aden. Smaller in size than Switzerland or Croatia, and smaller than the state of Massachusetts, Djibouti sits in a hot, arid region of the Horn of Africa atop a vast stony desert with dispersed highlands. Of the 757,000 people that inhabit this country, the vast majority is Somalis and the minority is Afars and about 15,000 are of European descent. (cia.gov)
History
Immigrants from Arabia (the Afars) populated this region 300 years B.C.T, Somalis arrived soon after and the Islamic religion did not enter the region until 825 A.C.T. During the 19th century Djibouti became a French Territory, and it wasn’t until 1977 that it gained independence and became a republic (Alwan, Mibrathu, p. 133-136). Before becoming a colonized nation, the Somali and Afar tribes of the region were nomadic pastoralists and traders; their economic success was highly dependent of their proximity to the Red Sea. In the last decade the population of Djibouti has been drastically increasing due to heavy immigration from its war-ravaged neighbors. This rapid growth has rigorously strained the agricultural capacity of this Nation. In 2000 the U.N spent over $2 million to increase the city of Djibouti’s port facilities, and in 2002 the country became a key U.S. military base used to combat terrorism (infoplease.com)
Uniqueness of the Culture
The culture of this region is directly influenced by the neighboring countries as the nomad tribes that first populated this areas came from inland. Although the majority of the population is of Somali descent (predominantly Issa tribe), the first settlers were Afars. Each ethnic group brought wit themselves the traditions and ways ...

98.8% of the population is made up of ethnic Somalis (Kraus). Other minority groups include Arabs, Indians, Italians, and Pakistanis. Most Somalis are nomadic or semi nomadic herders of livestock. The rest are either crop farmers or inhabitants of the few urban centers. The official languages of the country are Somali and Arabic and the state religion is Islam (“Somalian People”).

...le. The port city of Aden had a population around 45,000 until the 1940s, and in 1955 the population had risen to 139,600. The 1931 Census for the Protectorate of Tunis lists the population as 2,410,692, of whom 195,293 were Europeans. With the boom in the tourist industry in Tunisia from the 1970s, many Europeans chose to settle in the country, and by 2003 there were 100,000 Europeans, with the country’s population having risen to 9,924,742.

Niger is eighty-percent desert which doesn't provide natural resources or availability of water, even though the Niger River is a huge resource for Niger. With its beautiful, sparkling water flowing southwest in a sort of crescent shape it is a place of relief. Along this river, they have wonderful areas for farming and grazing and one can find the most populous city and the capitol Niger called Niamey. This Sub-Saharan country not only has the Sahara desert to deal with, but the Tener...
Rwanda, a little territory residing in east-central Africa, resembles close to the size of Maryland. Many believe that the Kingdom of Rwanda was founded by European explorers in 1854. It was occupied by Belgian troops during World War I. On January 28, 1961 it became known as Rwandan Republic. On July 1, 1962 they established their independence from Belgium and then on June 4, 2003 it became known as the Republic of Rwanda. Rwanda has come a long way since its founding. Now one of the largest regions in Africa as far as population and economic growth, Rwanda continues to grow. Though some say that the poverty level remains much more than any other region, it is still a place I want to visit.
Over the course of human history, many believe that the “Congo Free State”, which lasted from the 1880s to the early 1900s, was one of the worst colonial states in the age of Imperialism and was one of the worst humanitarian disasters over time. Brutal methods of collecting rubber, which led to the deaths of countless Africans along with Europeans, as well as a lack of concern from the Belgian government aside from the King, combined to create the most potent example of the evils of colonialism in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century’s. The Congo colonial experience, first as the Congo Free State then later as Belgian Congo, was harmful to that region of Africa both then and now because of the lack of Belgian and International attention on the colony except for short times, the widespread economic exploitation of the rubber resources of the region, and the brutal mistreatment and near-genocide of the Congolese by those in charge of rubber collecting.
The biodiversity of this particular biome is vast and rapidly growing. One of the main reasons that there are so many species and animals living within this biome is due to the constant warm weather. It also supplies an almost 100% chance of water and food for the animals within. Small animals, including monkeys, birds, snakes, rodents, frogs and lizards are most common in tropical rainforests. Most of these animals and some insects rema...
Palm oil is considered an essential ingredient for the production of foods and other products in which human use. Orangutan Project (2015) states that ‘palm oil is derived from the fruit of the oil palm tree’, and the ‘palm oil plantations are the main driver for deforestation in Indonesia’. The harvest of the palm trees for the production of palm oil affects the ecosystem as it can affect the environment. This investigation with highlight out the advantages of the palm fruit providing nutrients, it is essential for the productions of products, and this production being that palm oil can reduce poverty. The negatives of how the production of palm oil negatively affects the environment, the habitat of the animals, and social consequences
Africa provides one of the most highly destructive environmental issues throughout the whole world. In fact, Sub-Saharan Africa has been known to have major impacts with the largest amounts of deforestation, the loss of forests from cutting down too many trees and not re-planting them back. According to the World Resource Institute, Washington DC stated, “More than 80 percent of the earth's natural forests have already been destroyed at a rate of about 40 million hectares per year. Up to 90 percent of West Africa's coastal rain forests have disappeared since 1900. Loss of habitats is among the obvious consequences of deforestation` (seventy percent of the Earth's biodiversity is present in forests). If deforestation continues without any solution, there will be no rain forest left in Africa by the year 2099” (Uneke). Again, the United Nation’s says, "Africa is losing more than 4 million hectares (9.9 million acres) of forest every year -- twice the world's average deforestation rate"(Doyle). Therefore, deforestation can be understood as a completely ecological process in which the human factor is taken into account only as a basic addition, not as a powerful one constantly affecting the environment. In fact, the socially and culturally behavioral practices, such as those involved in traditional resource utilization and human reproduction, and their ecological connections present another approach to the environmental problem in Africa. In the history of deforestation, the studies of pollen sedimentation in bog lake bottom layers shows that regional deforestation replacement of forest vegetation by grasslands and bush lands occurred long ago in various parts of Africa, such as Ethiopia, Ug...
The name of my country is the Republic of Cameroon. Cameroon, which is located in Central Africa, shares its border with the Central African Republic, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and Nigeria. Cameroon has an area of 183,568 square miles. Tennessee is 42,180 square miles which means Cameroon is roughly 4.35x the size of Tennessee or a little bigger than California which is 163,695 square miles. Cameroon has a diverse terrain with coastal plain in the southwest, dissected plateau in the center, mountains in the west, and plains in the north. It has been called “Africa in miniature” because of this diverse terrain. Cameroon’s highest point is Fako on Mt. Cameroon (4,095m), and its lowest point is at the Atlantic Ocean (0m). The percentage of arable land in Cameroon is 13.04% (“Africa: Cameroon”). Cameroon’s climate varies across the country. It is tropical along the coast and has little rain for parts of the year and is hot in the north (Africa: Cameroon”). The north has a single wet season and high temperatures. This wet season is from May to the end of September. The south has a moderate climate with fairly constant temperatures and two wet seasons with heavy, regular rains. These wet seasons include a short rainy season from March to June and the big rains come between August and September (“Cameroon Climate and Weather”).

Mogadishu, Merca, Baraawe, and Kismayu on the Indian Ocean, and Berbera on the Gulf of Aden. Few ancient palaces and statues still remain in poor condition due to civil wars of the country. much of the architecture of the country was damaged in the civil war.
The article addresses the ecological impact of palm oil plantation in Indonesia and Malaysia. The author conducts a descriptive study of how the increased demand for palm has impacted biodiversity especially indigenous animals such as orangutan. In order to assess the impact of palm oil plantation on orangutan’s habitat, the author conducted a literature review. The author notes that the need to expand land for palm oil expansion has negatively impacted the composition and the size of orangutan’s habitat. These findings imply that sustainable environmental policies and techniques need to be developed and implemented so as to mitigate the negative impact of the palm oil plantation of orangutan’s habitat.
Ethiopia an African country officially known as the Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and famously know as one of the oldest location of human life to scientists. Ethiopia is located in the horn of Africa (east of Africa). It is argued that Ethiopia was the only African country to defeat a European colonial power and retain its sovereignty as an independent country. It is argued that Ethiopia was conquered by Italy in 1935 and regained its independence in 1941 on the 5th of May and the ruler of that era was Halie Selassi. Ethiopia’s major economic contributor is the agriculture sector with a 46% of gross domestic product and a labour force of 85% by agriculture (Ethiopia’s gross domestic product by sector). Ethiopia is a federal republic state this means that there is no monarch and that the state exercise democra...
