Did you know that the country of Chad is the size of Alaska? Chad has been in poverty for a while now, the economy is not good at all. The harsh weather in Chad just makes it harder for the people who live there. When it comes to jobs in Chad, they are limited amount and most of them are in bad working conditions. Life in Chad is not easy.
The Chad government is republican. The president is Idriss Déby, the citizens of Chad don't like him very much. Their government does not have much money to give to the citizens, the government has a hard time focusing more on the citizens and instead of focusing more toward the military. With Chad being the fifth poorest country, they need to defend their country since would so easy for larger countries to take over.
In Chad there is an election every five years, the last election was in 2011. In order to vote, the citizns must 18+ years of age. There are 118 members in the Legislative Branch. The country is considered to be a member of the United Nations. The country needs some fixing but that is how it will be for a while. (http://country-facts.findthedata.org/1/45/Chad).
The economy in Chad doesn't help anybody that lives there. The poverty is at a very high level, many kids are getting sick and dying from hunger. There are only a couple of large and wealthy cities throughout the countries, the largest city is N'Djamena. The population was 10,758,945 when it was last taken in 2012. The most popular religion in Chad is Islam and Christianity. Although there are many tribal languages, French is basically the primary language. There really isn't any potential wealth from the looks of Chad but there are things that could turn it around.
Chad is mostly a desert(part of the sahara...

...es only). Chad is not ran by technology like the United States of America.(http://country-facts.findthedata.org/1/45/Chad).
Chad is more athletic then they look. Soccer is the main, most popular, and really the only sport played in Chad. Many kids in Chad play soccer because it easy to set up a field, use a couple of sticks for goals and roll up some torn up rags for a soccer ball. Chad does not have any winter olympians nut they do have summer olympians. Chad has athletes every where, just like other countries.
Chad's citizens try their best to live in poverty, while the government tries to defend their country. The country is lacking of money, food, and education. On a worldly scale, Chad is the fifth poorest country, but also one of the youngest countries. Given time, Chad may learn how to better utilize their resources and bring themselves out of poverty.
Many of us view poverty as mainly a third world issue, because it tends to have little effect on the majority of individuals on a recurring basis. Yet, it is a difficult situation prevalent in all types of civilization, despite the overall advances in technology, medicine and education that one country may have over the other. Poverty does not necessarily have to affect a specific individual, but as a country, it affects all levels of production; even when the production of a single country begins to falter, it could potentially have major effects on others, creating a continuous cycle.“Poverty is color blind”, it does not discriminate, and is a societal problem that needs to be dealt with today (Fullerton, par. 3). If not helped or solved,
Poverty, we hear about it every day. We hear about all the children in Africa, and other developing countries, but what about the countries that already have a stable government and are a first or second world country? It is scarce you hear about poverty in those countries, but it is as every bit as real, and devastating. "A lot of people find it difficult to appreciate that [poverty] is happening on their doorstep and perhaps don't really understand what it means.” -Mary Chandler, head of Save the Children charity. One country that you never would have thought of to have poverty is Wales. Wales has been impoverished for a few years, but the problem seems to be getting worse, and not better.
What is poverty? Depending upon where you live, the definition of poverty could vary significantly. In the U.S., we tend to define poverty as not having enough money for life’s necessities such as food, clothing, shelter or medical needs. In other countries, poverty is much bigger than money. It is also about not having the physical means in which to better one’s life. There are many areas of the world where the most basic needs like clean drinking water, proper sanitation and medical care are just not available. When disaster strikes, the people living in these already disadvantaged areas are thrust into situations where death is almost always imminent.
...onditions in an inner-city or a rural community in the United States” (8). Most of the countries in Africa there are well over 50% of people below their poverty line. For an example, Lusted states, “In developing regions, extreme poverty is usually defined as earning less than $1.25 a day. In the United States, extreme poverty means earning less than half of the official poverty line” (10). But Africa isn’t the only country struggling with poor people. Poverty and Homelessness by Merino writes, “...3.7 percent in Denmark, 5 percent in Finland, 5.5 percent in Norway, 6.9 in Slovenia, 7 percent in Sweden, 7.2 percent [in] Hungary, 8.3 percent in Germany, 8.8 percent in the Czech Republic, 9.3 percent in France, 9.4 percent in Switzerland” (32). Poverty is a struggle all around the world and thousands of people die each day due to the lack of basic necessities to live.
Most people of the society still blame the poor for their own predicament. They believe that "if there is a will there is a way". However, they do not think about their government that might had made bad decisions and policies that could actually harm successful development. This causes of poverty and inequality are usually less discussed and often neglected. We must recognize the effects poverty could have on the society and seek ways to create better understanding and resolve the issue before it is too late.
They are poor and malnourished, fighting everyday for life. Third world countries are called third world countries because they are very underdeveloped, resulting in very poor income, and no businesses wanting to have operations there. This is a great reason why they do not have access to much food. They mainly get by on a hunter gatherer lifestyle, but in lots of countries like Haiti, they have such limited resources, and once the country’s rations run out, then everyone starts to become starved. A lot of these countries, many in Africa, do not have access to clean drinking water. They often do not know this or are so thirsty they do not care, and when they drink it, can cause a magnitude of problems for them, including bacterial infections causing vomiting, diarrhea, resulting in more dehydration and often death because there lack of healthcare can cause diseases we do not think twice about can kill them. I give lots of credit to people living in those countries. They live a very hard life, but most do it the right way. The African country of Somalia is another Third world country but often has great income because of the Somalian Pirates. These are fisherman whose water has been polluted affecting the fish population. To survive, they will hijack boats coming through their waters, and hold the ship and the crew for ransom, often being successful. They use this
Chad is an ethnically diverse African country that also happens to be one of the poorest countries in Africa. Chad gained its independence from France in 1960 after a sixty year rule. There are several national cultures in Chad that are based on ethnoregional and religious affiliations. There are more than 200 ethnic groups in Chad, and those in the north and east are typically Muslim; most southerners are Animists and Christians. Through their long religious and commercial relationships with Sudan and Egypt, many of the people in Chad's eastern and central regions have become more or less Arabized, speaking Arabic and engaging in many other Arab cultural practices as well (Azevedo, Graham, and Nnadozie, 1997). The people who reside in southern Chad took more readily to European culture during the French colonial period.
There have been many famines that have greatly impacted Ethiopia. One of the famine that is very famous in Ethiopian history and World history is known as the Great Famine. Due to the lack of the support of the government and other organizations, about one million people died of starvation. The conditions of Ethiopia in the beginning of 1984 were not well. “The Ethiopian government predicted that the agricultural yield of the nation was going to be considerably lower in at the beginning of 1984 because there had been less rainfall than expected. However, preventive measures were not taken by either the government or the rest of the world to prevent the mass starva...
Poverty is not just an issue reserved for third world countries. Instead, poverty is a multifaceted issue that even the most developed nations must battle
A large amount of people in poverty live on the streets of Ghana. The economy is steadily increasing about 7 percent each year. Poverty continues to be a consistent problem in specific areas of Ghana. The poverty rate in urban areas at 10.6 percent is nothing related to 37.9 percent in rural areas. Almost four million children continue to live below the poverty line, and the poverty reduction is not keeping up with the population growth. The population in Ghana is 28.21 million. A child in Ghana is about 40 percent more likely to be in poverty than a Ghanaian adult. The main causes of poverty in Ghana are lack of education, poor environment, bad character or morals, ignorance, greed and selfishness. Poverty in Ghana is also politically, culturally, and religiously driven. At least 45 percent of the population in Ghana lives on less than $1.25 a day. The highest proportion of food in households is in the upper east region, where 27 percent of households are at risk of hunger. Many of the major
There are many areas in the world that are living in absolute poverty, one of these is Darfur. Darfur is located in Sudan which is a very poor country. It is located in the Sahara desert, these harsh conditions add to the very difficult life style in the region.
Poverty has been an issue for a long time and every country is affected by it in some way and some countries are worse off than others. The countries most affected by poverty are Niger, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Uganda, Haiti and many other countries (Infoplease). The total percentage of world population that lives on less than $2.50 a day is that of around 50%. The definition of poverty is “The state or condition of having little or no money, goods, or means of support; condition of being poor.” (Dictionary).
What is poverty? Well, according to Webster's Third New International Dictionary, poverty is "lack of money or material possessions; poor." Two-thirds of the world's population fits this definition. I know that many times we think of being poor as not being able to buy the car we want or take the trip we can only dream about. However, being poor, living in poverty, hits a lot lower than that. For example, a resident of the country of Chad will only bring in $100 each year. Since many people can make more than that in one week, some in one day, can you imagine having the feed a family of five or six, or even a family of two, on only $100 a year? These are the conditions that exist in poverty-stricken countries.
Poverty is a global epidemic that contributes to the deaths of millions each year. However, poverty is more prominent in some areas around the world than others. The Oxford dictionary defines poverty as the state or condition of having little or no money, goods, or means of support, but it’s so much more. Poverty can be defined as being hungry, lacking shelter, being unable to go to school, being unable to see a doctor, or being powerless and having a lack of freedom. The reason behind the many descriptions of poverty is that poverty has many faces, and its definition changes depending on the place and time, however the effects of poverty on the poor are always the same.
