It is undeniable that the computer and Internet play and important role in our daily lives. Today, many issues have been raised regarding the decline in morality and the pornification of culture. These issues have become a serious problem around the world and it leaves a big impact on many people regardless of their age, culture and religion. Muslims and non-Muslims are concerned on what the future brings if actions are not taken to decrease these bad influences that are getting more influential especially to the youths. Morality issues mainly come from the mass media such as music videos, movies, video games, magazines also social networks. Some believe that this new ‘culture’ cannot be stopped. However; there are actions that can be taken to reduce it to the minimum in order for the current and future generation to lead a good and healthy lifestyle.
Back in the days, alcohol and drugs are considered as taboo in the society either in the East or the West. In Britain today, many teenagers are involved in binge drinking at an early age. They would semiconsciously walk around the streets late at night and some were picked up by the “booze bus” to be sent to the hospital to keep them out of trouble (Binge Drinking, 2012). Other immoralities such as drug abuse and pre-marital sex have become a major concern to many people including the government. The immoralities portrayed by teenagers today can affect the number of skilled workers and economic status of the country.
Malaysia, a Muslim majority country, is also facing the same problem. Drugs and alcohol are consumed in an unrestrained manner and drug dealers are getting more inventive in transporting drugs in and out of the country (Four Arrested, Drugs Worth RM2m , 2013). Many te...

... bad influences can be repelled by youths for the betterment of their future. Youths today are the leaders of tomorrow. If morality and religion is not taken seriously, raising the status of their country in the future will be more complicated that it already is. Thus, all parties play an important role in promoting awareness to the youngsters about the importance of morality and religion in everyday life. New leaders are needed, religious programs have to be introduced and superstars who have the potential to give positive influences are one of the many ways to reduce the corruption in the new culture today. These proposed alternatives will not only benefit the present generation but also the future generations as well. As Muslims, problems faced by the society should not be ignored and it is everyone’s responsibility to urge the youths to return to the right path.
In countries of poverty, lacking of security is a long-lasting common problem. Because some of the poor countries have corrupt government, and some of them might be in a tense situation which wars will happen at anytime. Laos, a Southeast Asian country, shares a border with China. In Laos, smuggling drugs is very popular, because of lacking of security. Germinating the seeds of drugs is easier in the country, since less people are in charge of public security. Since Laos is one of east Asia’s poorest countries, people are eager to get wealthy. By smuggling drugs, it is easier for people to earn a lot of money. With the access to drugs effortlessly, young people are easily addicted to drugs. Since young people do not know how to control themselves, using drugs becomes a serious
Today, “60 percent of children who use the Internet regularly come into contact with pornography” (Hanes 1). In Stephanie Hanes’ article, “Little Girls or Little Women? The Disney Princess Effect”, she provides undeniable evidence to suggest that the culture of today’s world causes sexualization of children, specifically of females, at an alarmingly young age. This sexualization has become increasingly invasive in the past decade, so much so that parents, educators, and even more recently politicians have decided to try to counteract some these negative effects. In this article, Stephanie Hanes uses strong research with logical arguments that support this
Concerned authorities have focused essentially on criminalization and punishment, to find remedies to the ever-increasing prevalent drug problem. In the name of drug reducing policies, authorities endorse more corrective and expensive drug control methods and officials approve stricter new drug war policies, violating numerous human rights. Regardless of or perhaps because of these efforts, UN agencies estimate the annual revenue generated by the illegal drug industry at $US400 billion, or the equivalent of roughly eight per cent of total international trade (Riley 1998). This trade has increased organized/unorganized crime, corrupted authorities and police officials, raised violence, disrupted economic markets, increased risk of diseases an...
To begin with, high school and college students on average are subjected to sexual acts at least once a day whether on television, in a movie, at school, or with their significant other. For the most part, adding alcoholic drinks to the equal causes other doors of controversies to emerge. Exclusively, teenagers who drink are seven times likelier to engage in sex and twice more likely to have sex with four or more partners than those who do not (Balkin 40). Coupled with the engagement of sex, such behaviors like this can lead to unprotected sex, STDs, increased risk of AIDS and pregnancy. These ‘doors’ are surely unwanted and will remain open not only because communities fail to strictly enforce the MLDA laws, but also because these underage drinkers are not being held responsible for their actions. If the MLDA were lowered, there...
The drug problem in the U.S. and around the world is an important issue and seems to be a difficult problem to tackle across the board. The inflow of drugs has become one of the largest growths in transnational crime operations; illicit drug use in the United States makes it very difficult for nation states police and customs forces to get a handle on the issues. War on drugs, drug trafficking has long been an issue for the United States. There has been a proclamation of “war on drugs” for the past 44 years.
A lot of the time, teens think it is ‘cool’ to drink because everyone else does it. Almost every television show that young people watch have some underage substance abuse, leading adolescents to believe that it can’t be that bad. While society plays a big part in this huge problem, both teens and parents need to learn that there can be severe consequences from as little as one drink. Allowing them to think this kind of behavior is acceptable will haunt them for the rest of their lives, even if they are not alcohol related. Believing that such behavior is acceptable now will lead them to bad decision-making skills in the future when faced with an ethical decision. Teens need to know the major effects can come from underage drinking before going to that party or when being pressured into something they may not be willing to participate in. It is obvious that the long and short-term effects of alcohol abuse can be easily avoided by getting educated and thinking before engaging in any self-destructive
Tears begin to fall down a child’s face. Her body goes into shock out of fear. Her mother warned her about watching inappropriate content, and there it was, right on her computer screen. This could not have happened though. All she was doing was casually browsing the internet before a pop-up appeared. Although it may seem hard to believe, the major cause of events such as this is the lack of censorship on the internet. Internet censorship relates to the removal of offensive, inappropriate, or controversial content published online. The current problem with the internet is that there are few restrictions on what can be published or viewed. Several sites on the internet only offer a warning about inappropriate content that can easily be bypassed by agreeing to the terms. Other websites provide access to private or military information. More dreadfully, however, are websites that use their explicit content as a promotion. These factors bring the conclusion that anybody of any given age can view and publish inappropriate or dangerous content. The current problems with the internet serve for clarification as to why the United States should create a nonpartisan assembly to censor the internet in order to protect its citizens from the mental, emotional, and physical harms the internet creates.

Technology and things like social media have a great effect on sexual views, behavior and practice among generations. Recent advances in technology are influencing sexual behaviors because of things like computers, smartphones, sex technology (sex toys, pornography, etc.). The list is growing and so are the many possible uses of these technologies. In fact, one in every ten websites is a pornography website, (Krotoski, 2011). This alone gives individuals access to the erotic, fantasy world of sex. These advances in technology, and the availability of this information has made it easier than ever to enter the world of sex.
When thinking of killing, drugs and nudity, I’m pretty sure not many people think of positive ideas. Electronics, such as television and computers, show these kinds of things regularly. Despite this explicit material, some people see the constantly improving technology as a wonderful addition to our lives. Yet as time passes, more and more people start to have doubts about what these developments in technology are leading to. Kids and teens should be playing and using their imaginations; instead they devote countless hours on various electronics ranging from tablets and computers to phones and TV’s. These inventions often show explicit and inappropriate material which corrupts children, and are slowly ruining society’s social skills.
This world has become immersed in online media from socializing on networking sites to seeking information on search engines. People of all ages have become reliant on online media, but the most engaged users are the younger, more easily impacted generations. Although there are many positive uses for online media, there are many negative uses as well. Unfortunately, it is all too easy for these negative effects to impede upon the perceptions of adolescents. Some countries have been trying to reduce this effect by expelling the inappropriate content of online media ("Influence on Children Media...”). However, in the United States, children are thrown in the waves, expected to stay afloat in this massive sea, but many are being dragged under the surface by the nefarious temptations media creates. Content that is not appropriate for the young, growing minds of children are easily accessible; a myriad of devices may be used to access this material, all at the click of a button. Without adult content filters on online media, adolescents of various ages are exposed to dangerous conceptions. A world of pornography, violence, and public humiliation lay in the user’s fingertips.
In the today’s society, social media has gone out of hand. Most people these days have a cell phone, Ipad and/or laptop and most definitely a television at their home. Therefore, access to pornography has become extremely easy and can be available to any individual in less than 5 minutes. The best definition of pornography can be explained as sexually explicit words or images intended to provoke sexual arousal. The easy access to porn has raised many people to question if porn is harmful, if it should be censored, and if it is unsafe. Many debates have been going on about porn concerning freedom of rights, speech, and entertainment and right of privacy. The main people to have argued on this point are Catherine Mackinnon and philosopher J.S. Mill.
Technology has more negative effects on today’s society than positive. Due to technology in the past few decades Canine Shock Collars have been increasingly popular. Students in school pay more attention to texting than they do their classes. Violent addictive video games have made their way into American homes. Parents encourage their children to not text as much, but them to face the problem of constant communication. The Internet gives the students easier ways to cheat in school, and reinforces laziness. Internet Porn gives every bored male a chance to look at the seediest film in the comfort of his own home. Technology has taken the innocence and mystery away from the American family.
In recent years, pornography has established itself as perhaps the most controversial topic arising out of the use of the Internet. The easy availability of this type of sexually explicit material has caused a panic among government officials, family groups, religious groups and law enforcement bodies and this panic has been perpetuated in the media.
Nowadays, children and adolescents spent a considerable part of their time on the internet. Media has turned out to be a very useful tool in many fields such as education, arts, science, sports, and culture. Over the recent decades, there has been a surge in the use of media by the younger generations and concern has been raised about the effect of media on children because of research reports of long term negative effects. Media use is a double edged weapon with both advantages and disadvantages. Since Internet is the easiest way now for children to use so as to watch and observe anything they want such as movies, games, news and pictures, also this useful tool is used by children for harming themselves
