As an individual, we‘re made up of multiple selves. A self that lasts with you, and one which lives in the moment and makes most of our decisions. These selves compete on a daily basis,howeverthere’s only one self which last throughout the years, your true identity. There is a battle of multiple selves, howeverit’s different from having multiple identities. Having multiple selves is having the day-to-day struggle of making decisions which either benefit or hurt the individual. A person is ingrained with the ability to make choices in the moment, but the other side of oneself doesn’t want to do something or act upon decisions which need to be made. This internal battle of selves makes a villain’s identity and gives them character. Every day, everyone struggles with an internal battle of our conscience. Our consciencehelps to determine the decisions we make. Even with these daily decisions, we still have our identity that extends past day to day existence. The long term self is fluid, however like one’s short term self, can switch back and forth on a subject. The self we are now might be different than the one we see in twenty years.Our ideas and identity are subject to change. This won’t make you a totally different person just a person with slightly changed morals and ideas. The identity who a person truly is can last forever or is subject to change as person matures. As a person matures the way we think, feel and reason develops over time and is influenced by those around us. The self makes constant daily decisions which determine the outcome of your future for the bad or the good. Just like the idea of having an angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other.
