• INTRODUCTION:
As we all may know, throughout human evolution history, ethics has been playing an extremely significant role in controlling and influencing human beings' behaviors, ruling over may different aspects of the living world, including the field of Design. Just as there is no actual way to regard whether an action is objectively ethical or not, there is also no right or wrong way for designers to create a piece of work. Hence, this draws us to the realization that there is an invisible strand of similarities and relations which links these two terms together. The essay below, although by no means completely exhaustive, will clarify the correlation between Ethics and Design, as well as illustrate the kinds of problems that can be encountered during the design process and propositions from an ethical perspective. However, as Ethics is not a process of obedience but learning, it is indispensable for designers to make sure that personal effort in perceiving ethical conflicts takes priority over trying to follow any previously defined set of rules.
• MIDDLE:
Ethics emerged from the Greeks and was first known as the term "ethos", which means "character". Also known as ethical theory, moral theory, philosophical ethics and moral philosophy, Ethics is a foundational branch of philosophy in both Western and Eastern cultures which deals with moral principles. Particularly, it focuses on the disputation of moral diversity and seeks to resolve questions concerning human morality concepts. According to Tony Fry (2004, issue 2), there are " Two interwoven strands of thought emerged that shaped how ethics was pursued". Besides, according to Madsen, apart from following the intimate-related trinity above, Ethics in design profession is also prescribed as a code of professional conduct, as known as professionalism, which even elevates the inner value of the design work to higher positions.
