Reflections on Intro To College Writing.
Writing has always been a key to the person I am today, I 've been writing sketch comedy and stand-up comedy for about six years, and recently I 've been working on writing music. I love writing because it is an umbrella term that cover so many different things, I learned from this class many of the things that writing can do. For example, in the first text I read, Nick Walker introduced the idea of a “Neurodiversity Paradigm Shift” I found this piece of text truly inspiring because it showed a minority that many people really never give the time of day. Walker was able to make an appeal that caught my attention and showed he was able to make a difference in the world just by writing. Also something I 've been working on and struggling my whole life is my grammar, in high school I was never really properly taught more advanced grammar and that reflects in my writing, but thanks to peer revision my grammar is getting stronger. Another thing that has majorly changed my writing is learning the difference between summary and analysis, in my first rough drafts I was mostly summarizing the text like many of my classmates. But after learning the difference in class and doing activities to reinforce that idea I was able to confidently give a strong analysis of the text. One of my biggest challenges for analysis was the Mushfaking essay, many of my peers struggled with it as well, but I was able to give an analysis of why the author composed the text without using summary as a crutch. Intro To College Writing not only made me a much stronger writer, but a more culturally aware person, which is important in the steps to becoming an adult. College is a place for academics, but more importantly, being exposed to the world around you and learning how
