World War one or “The Great War” as it was commonly referred to before World War Two, was mainly started by three reasons. These three reasons made it inevitable for the war to happen. There were a lot of tensions between many of the countries but there were more than just allies and rivalries between the countries in Europe. There was an initial spark to what started the war but World war one mainly started because of Militarism, Nationalism and Imperialism.
Without a strong belief that armies were going to win the war(s), the soldiers would have been possibly have a different outlook on things and be week. Having pride in ones military or army was very important. Some countries such as Germany put all their children through military schooling. From a young age countries have been teaching their nation the ways of military and to have pride and faith in their military or army. Also as technology evolved, so did weapons witch helped many countries. Militarism, the European Arms Race was a big part in World War One and why it had started.
