Recommendation Report
It has recently come to my attention that due to your programs unprecedented success and commitment to student learning and work in the community, that your welding program at Niagara college has been given a grant of $5,000 and I as a student would like to make a recommendation of putting the money towards setting up a new part in your program where we will be able to weld out side in the elements with a small group of people and know what it would be like to weld on a job site.
In order to achieve this the main piece of equipment that I recommend to buy are new light weight welding machines that are easy to set up on a new work site and could be used anywhere with a plug near by. I would also advise not to invest into any kind of welding booths out side and invest into 3 steel beams with clamps on them for a more on the job feel.
Purpose.
The reason why I recommend this new welding program is because most students have never welded out side. Many variables change when welding out in the elements and students should know what to change or what to do when they are welding in different weather.
Hot sunny day- Weld with thinner and breathable clothes on under your welding gear, take more water breaks and stay hydrated
Snow- Dress warm under welding gear, preheat the metal if its cold, higher amperage.
Rain- not to weld in the rain to high of electric shock.
By knowing what it is like they can be more prepared and know what to do. They won’t be at risk if they follow what to do and wont have a bad experience.
Material and Workspace.
To get that more on the job site feel there should be no booths outside. By looking at [figure one] below you can see that the workspace below is big eno...

Conclusion
Having this new program would be a major benefit to the welding program and the students. There will also still be enough money left over to invest into other great ideas just like this one, I hope that you will take this into great consideration and that my recommendation on what to invest in will be of great benefit in the choice of expanding in the future here at Niagara College.

...elder that you want to become. To get a good welding job, it mostly depends on what you know, and how good you weld. As many great welders once said, "If you can't take the heat, LEAVE!!!!!!" (Hobart Welders).
Even though welding has been around for a long time, most of the best inventors were around during the 19th century and have changed the way thing are done today. During the 20th century, many technological advancements developed and have made welding easier because of the different types of welding that have been developed. Welding impacted the world during World War l, because during the war armaments that were going to be utilized were ordered in tremendous amounts. Therefore, welding has been around since the Iron Age and has let people build strong steel and powerful armament such as Weapons, tanks, and planes. Finally, welding has had many advancements, and will continue to do so in the future, because the world needs
Career Education Advisor states that welding is relatively dangerous work, done in some potentially hazardous environments. Welders work with electrical currents, large machinery, and heavy parts in conditions that include factories and construction sites. Management-level welders spend time on work sites as well as in the office (Career Education Advisor). Finally, every occupation has advantages
Welding is a excellent career choice for those who like to build things with their hands and have a strong attention to detail. It requires an extensive amount of knowledge and skill but for those who get a solid grasp of the respected trade they're rewarded with tremendous job opportunities and first-rate pay.
Most people think that nothing bad will happen to them (e.g. robbery, kidnapping, theft, rape, domestic violence and so on), but the truth is that no one is protected. It is widely known how powerful the personal experience can be regarding the recognition of risk and the eagerness to take to take precautions. Even when people fail to take precautions, this also can be attributed to experience, which means it needs an examination.

Pipe welding is a career that does not require any college education but keep in mind this type of work is definitely no walk in the park. Pipeline rigs are typically located in rural areas, so pipeline welders often have to travel to reach the work site (Browne). Pipe welders are required to work through all types of weather in regard to the season and where you are stationed (Browne) To Begin pipe welding one usually must pass a welding exam and safety test for proper certification (Dye). In my opinion pipe welding can be an extremely discomforting occupation, because they normally spend long periods of time away from families; often several months at a time. One big factor that plays a role on this key point is the different fumes that can be inhaled. Between a combination of welding fumes such as argon, carbon, tungsten, and when welding stainless steel I may also have to worry about chromium. All of these different fumes can cause many health problems later down the road such as lung problems (AFSCME). We have been living in a generation with retired welders in their 50’s and 60’s who have an extremely high increase in medical problems due to their careers as welders (BOC). “Sometimes one may receive specific warnings after breathing or inhaling different fumes. For instance if enough zinc fumes are inhaled expect to experience metal fume fever; symptoms may include night sweats, chills, and stomach pains”
Now it is feasible to weld, starting from thin metal sheets of fraction of mm to very thick plates of virtually any thickness. The quality of welding is not restricted only to work done by the welder but depends on many other factors, viz. welding technique and its parameters, welding equipment, shielding medium, working environment, etc. The heat input rate is one of the most important variables in fusion welding, since it governs heating rates, cooling rates and weld pool size. In the welding of steel, this is important relationship since increased cooling rates increase the risk of hydrogen-induced cracking.
The recruiter told me Tig welding would be the best choice for me but I don’t know if I’m sure on that. I did a little research on pipe line welding but I couldn’t find too much of noting on the website I was on. The recruiter also told me Tig welding will be the hardest and take the longest to learn. I aren’t even tripping about that though because I know that in order for me to succeed something have to be hard alone the way, nothing comes easy for nobody.
Welding is a very important tool used in our daily lives. Welding is the process of joining two metal pieces together by applying heat. A filler helps to make the joint. Everything we use from trucks to houses have some type of welding in them. There are many types of welding careers to choose from. There is a great demand for welders today. My project was to build a table and candelabra out of metal. Most of the metal I gathered came from junk yards and had to be cleaned of rust.

Welding is an art, science, and high paying career all in one. Welding is the most effective way to join two pieces of metal, it is the only way to join them so they act as one. Numerous things in our daily lives has been welded from coffeepots to skyscrapers. Welding can be done almost anywhere outdoors, indoors, underwater, and even space (“Welding Basics”). It is practically
Jonathan Atteberry claims, “T.I.G welding is difficult to learn and requires an elaborate welding rig of skills. It also uses a lot of electricity to make the welds clean and spatter less” (Parag 5). For instance, Mileti and Peek (2002) found that when people are given clear information about risk, they can comprehend and remember the message and that self-efficacy, i.e. knowing they have the ability to do something about it, regarding preparedness, promotes more action (Mileti and Peek, 2002, p. 128). It is also widely accepted that people will seek out additional information about a threat, especially from th...
