Reading The Apology of Plato

When reading the Apology by Plato I felt lost to start off with but once I started reading it I began to understand it. The Apology is about a man on trial in with he is charged with not recognizing the gods, that are recognized by the state that he is living, and for corrupting the young. When he’s no trial his speech is anything by an apology for not recognizing the gods. For the most part Socrates speaks in a very mellow tone throughout the reading, a very plain conversational manner. He explains to the court that he has no experiences with the laws of the court and that he will speak in the manner in which he is used to; that being in the manner of honesty and directness. He starts off his apology by explaining that his behavior stems from a prophecy by the oracle at Delphi. Which he then claims that he is the wisest of all men, Socrates sates the he must be the wiser than other men because only he knows that he knows nothing.
