Racism is a monumental problem in our society. Many of us wish to abolish any form of racism from within our lives. Nevertheless we must ask ourselves, “Why is this still such a huge problem?” I’ve reached out to a few of my peers to fill out this questionnaire on racism. Additionally, I was able to discover that the results are quite surprising. To gain a proper demographic, I divided 50% of the questions to Caucasian Americans, and half of my questions to all other nationalities to not include Caucasians. Surprisingly, 60% of the overall population questioned, answered the first question concerning black and white to be simple aspects of colors. Those who answered this question with this particular viewpoint are Caucasians. Whereas the others who responded with an answer involving race were minorities.

Racism from their standpoint, is not liking a group of people solely due to their race. It’s apparent that those in our society, young and old alike, understand the meaning of racism. It also goes without saying that the people I interviewed understood that this point of view was a misguided one to have.
Consequently, I was rather shocked about the responses to question three. In answering this inquiry, the minorities of the population stated that they hear racial comments, or witness gestures in that nature on a daily basis. In today’s society, it is horrific to hear that racism is very much alive and well like an untreated virus. ... demographic, it should not be considered a hateful claim as there could be logical reasoning behind her answer. She seemed very open to talk about it and was clear that she thought all races are equal and should coexist within society.
With all this in mind, everyone who partook in this inquiry indicated that the best way to combat racism is to teach our children that it is unsound. Our children are our future and if we ever want racism to be abolished, we must teach the younger generations that it is to never be accepted in society no matter how minute. No one is born despising another human being for any specific reason at all. Racism is taught to them by their parents and ancestors. If we are to one day all unite together, throughout the entire world, and embrace one another regardless of our differences, we can one day look forward to a future worth mentioning.
