Racial Profiling has been around ever since the 911 incident for the sake of the National security. Although it must not be a reason to keep the peaceful civilian in a threat of getting captured just because of their outlooks and their nationality, religion etc. It does not mean if one person is a national threat, the ones whose alike are all terrorists. All human beings are individual, and unique we cannot characterize a person without knowing them, but the mechanical and efficient world we have nowadays has lost its logical mind, and are only able to determine a person by their outlooks. Therefore, this irrational and illogical treatment must be stopped immediately to regain what the nation used to be and what its thriving for.
In fact Racial profiling is based on the statistics shown, but what if it is racial profiling that is increasing the statistics? NYPD statistics show that 74% of the shooting victims are blacks and the 21.4% are Hispanics (Gonzalez, Samuel). By this record, people somehow decide that it’s mostly the blacks and the hispanics how are guilty of the crimes in the city. Which could be totally wrong because there might have been shot despite their innocence. Thus, Racial Profiling it self is a contradiction because it’s used to protect the nation but it’s not constitutional.
Moreover, this racial profiling is the one who is contradicting the most important basis of the nation, which is “All men are created equal.” Therefore the racial profiling, itself is the infringement of the constitution, because it is not providing people with the equal treatment but in fact it is causing a reason why we should not treat the colored or muslims, just as people would treat the whites. There was this practice done by NYPD, which was the “stop and frisk.” This enabled NYPD to arrest many black and hispanics, just because they looked like terrorists. Fortunately this tactic was judged unconstitutional by the court, so it’s no longer present (Vaughan, Bernard). The Racial profiling is definitely a violation of right of privacy and also security, therefore it should not be no longer around.
Finally, it is a violation of human rights to arrest people without evidence and in some extreme cases murdering them without evidence. The Patriot Act, is responsible for the the arrest of the innocent people in the Guantanamo bay. Numbers show that 25% of the people released from guantanamo continues to be a terrorists which also means that 75% of the people in the Guantanamo bay are innocent; simply because they were just “at the wrong place, at the wrong time.
