Through this semester, I have learned a lot of writing skills and techniques. The learning process of this course is not smooth, there are many difficulties and issues I have meet during this semester. However, in the meantime I also revived many benefits from this course. I think the skills and techniques I learned from this course not only make me able to pass this class, but also is valued for my future academic journey. Throughout the whole semester, the project demanded the most from me among three writing project is the last one, the writing project 3. The writing project 3 demand me to find serval sources that is related with my topic, and paraphrase authors’ viewpoint in my own words. In my opinion, one of the most different points of writing project 3 with other two writing project is require cite from serval different sources. In other writing project, the points I concreted the most is did I follow the instruction and from the structure of the essay well. In the writing project 3, …show more content…
The reason of I fell proud about writing project 1 is although I do have some difficulties during the process of finish this project, I really put my effort on it to solve the problems, and learned from it. from the writing project one, I have learned audiences’ awareness. In my view of point, it is a significant writing technique for writer. As a writer, I ought to compose a good writing, which is not only meet the requirements of the assignment, but also attract audiences’ attention. It means when I am writing a piece of writing, I should always become aware of whether my audiences will be interested in what I write or not. In the meantime, I should use the tense or language my audiences can easily understand. After finished this assignment, I think I not only learned how to have audiences’ awareness in my essay, but also have a capability to apply that skill in the future
My development as a writer has flourished throughout this semester. The first week of this fall semester started out with writing responses from our readings in the textbook. Looking back through and analyzing my reading responses at the semester to now; I noticed a substantial improvement in not only my grammar skills, but also my summarizing, and in-depth studying of writing adeptness. Another way I have progressed this semester is the vocabulary of my writing has significantly improved and become more scholarly. Another advancement I noticed was that the content of my work has matured, along with my organizational adeptness.
As a student, I have learned many different skills that I will take with me throughout my journey from this course. We have traversed many different types of writing styles, which any college student, or any person for that
Throughout this semester I have learned many ways of writing through two main essays literacy narrative and comparison and contrast. These two essays have taught me how to correctly fix my comma splices, thesis statements, and capitalization. I have engaged in numerous learning material during this summer class. Many times when I thought it would be hard to work on those three developments I never gave up. I gain more positive feedback from my teacher because he pointed out most of my mistakes I made on both literacy narrative and comparison and contrast essays to help me understand what is it that I need to work on. My development as a writer became stronger.
As a second language learner I have never expected myself to be a perfect writer throughout the semester. Even If English was my first language still, I would not be a perfect writer. It is not about first or second language, it is about how well I understand the learning objectives. Then organizing and writing with my own ideas and putting them in my paper. I am going to be honest, I am not good at English subject and English subject is my strongest weakness than the other subjects. In this paper I will discuss and analyze my own writing, reflecting on the ways that my writing has improved throughout the semester.
I would like to start this paper by saying what a great piece of literature it is. When I started reading this book, I finished it in one day for the simple fact that I could not put it down. This book gave me a whole new view of life and how sacred it is. It also taught me how to not live my life in fear of dying, but embrace death while living. Of the many lessons, the one that reached out a grabbed my mind along with my heart was the lesson on emotion. In this paper, my goal is to reflect this lesson of Professor Morrie Schwartz to all who read my work. I will do this by first stating the main points given by a dying man on emotions and how we should absorb them every day and continue with my own personal experience of his words.
As a first year college student this course has taught me many core aspects to writing and critical thinking. Writing has not been one my strongest points in education, but I feel this course has helped me make strides in writing in many ways. This course has enlightened me on various aspects of writing and has taught me many different ways of writing quality essays. A few things that this course has taught me is how construct an acceptable thesis statement, how to prove my points in body paragraphs, and how to properly cite sources. Although I have learned an immense deal of writing skills within this course there some things I feel I can improve upon, such as, introductions and properly heading papers.
In the second essay I used the writing process and the outcome was way better. So I learned that so things are there to be learned and that will benefit you in college. Also I learned to be responsible when it comes to grades, turn in assignments due in class, and many other things. I learned this lesson because one day I didn’t turned in an assignment on time and the teacher said that it was a 0 for the day. In high school some teacher, like Ms. Perez, give the students the chance to turn in work the next day, but at that time I realized I was not in high school. So I got my schedule of homework on point and I decided to turn in all my college work on time. The outcome was good grades on assignment and not misunderstood with the instructor. “Be on time if you can’t be there early.” Said by Robin Sharma. Being on time is important to any individual, going into a date, to work and to class. You have to be responsible on be on time wherever they cited you, it is a sign of respect. One day my dad took me to get a new phone, knowing that I had college class. I was in Nuevo Laredo and it took a lot to get me my phone, so I arrived to class late. The students where already taking an exam. I asked Mr. Benavides “what
5. How will you use what you have learned in this class in future classes? After taking this class I feel that I will be able to use the writing strategies I learned in writing better essays and research papers. I will also use my new writing skills in discussion boards.
At the beginning of the semester my outlook on this course was not so good. I was not looking forward to giving speeches or learning things that seemed like common sense, but as time went on I could tell that I was actually taking things away from it. I have learned that I am not so good at coming up with things to say under pressure and I get extremely nervous when I have to talk in front of people that I don’t know well. Oh wait, I already knew those things. This class has motivated me to strengthen my social skills and has also taught me how to effectively work in a team environment through the team communication consultant project. I will show this by analyzing my teams strategic plan, the cohesiveness of the team, and the productivity of the team.
As the trimester comes to end, I look back on what I have achieved in writing class, and summarize what could I improve in the future. Learning a foreign language cannot be immediately improved, as learning is a process. Therefore, at the beginning of the semester, we were required to set a target for improving writing skill, so that there are four parts that will be mentioned, based on my writing weakness, the target, achievements and expectation for improving it.
This English class has prepared me not only for academic writing, but also for writing in my future career. I will continue to practice my writing skills by reading and writing more papers. Based on my collection of essays in this portfolio, I am confident that I can pass the class and receive Clear
Over the period of time that I was in this course, I thought it would be a very simple and easy to finish class. But as time went on, I found myself to be demanded more of what I think, what I feel, what must be relied on my ability to understand the concepts and conventions of not only the essays, but of what goes on in the writers mind when writing.
Before I took ENG 210: Foundations of Literary Study 1, I was not sure what I was going to expect. In the past, I have taken English or literature courses that were either really easy or really hard, making it difficult for me to predict this class. For many students, including me, having to read books assigned for a class seems very intimidating and stressful at the same time. Seeing the initial reading list, I was worried about how I was going to read eight books in one semester. I’m sure that you will feel just as overwhelmed when you first see the syllabus and notice all the papers and books that you will have to cover in sixteen weeks. Looking at the course schedule, however, I knew that I was going to be able to stay ahead of all the
Writing assignments over this course of time have gave knowledge and taught new processes for specific types of assignments. My attitude overall this semester has changed towards the writing process, as before I only use to pay attention to developing my three main ideas. Now I give attention to throws cited, grammar, structure and organization of the paragraphs. Essay’s overall presentation, problem solution and convincible factors lead to a good essay. This essay reflects level of difficulty or ease to produce essays, all the possible tasks and processes involved, and writing process of specific essay.
...rks. In a word, the MA experience was considered to be a bridge that combines the student learning with working skills, it would be of great help for my future career.
