“Hey sweetie, how did your exam go?” said mom. “Oh it was okay I guess…” I said. “Well do you think you aced it?” She said. “Maybe I just feel so worried that I didn’t do go, I mean the whole time all I could think about was, do I know this, is that the right answer, and my stomach was in knots the whole time.” If this sounds like you when you know you have a big exam coming up, you’re not alone. A lot of people have test anxiety, some worse than others, but there’s nothing to worry about. Here’s a few tips and tricks to overcoming test anxiety.
One of the most important factors in getting ready for a big exam is to study the material till you can’t stand to look at it any longer. Try to avoid cramming the night before a big exam or test. Start your studying process in advanced. If your exam is 2 weeks away start now, manage your time wisely. You can never go wrong with going over the material early. Did you know that if you keep going over the information day after day, your brain will eventually make a new connection so to speak, and you will have a better chance of recalling that information during the test?!; that’s pretty neat. I know it’s hard to get up the energy to start early but don’t procrastinate! It is good for your performance and good for you in the long run.
Next, think about how well your previous tests or exams went, and see what you did well in preparation and what you would like to improve. By doing this you can teach yourself new ways of studying and how to improve your chances of acing that test! Here’s an example; say you feel that you were not as prepared as you wish you could have been, so you decide on the next test that you will study more in advanced. This can help teach you that sometimes you nee...

In conclusion remember to start the studying process early, think about what you need to improve or take out of studying from your previous tests, avoid any outside distractions, be comfortable in the setting in which you decide to study, exercise to help the brain juices flow, get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast, and last during the test just remember to stay calm and tell yourself confident things.
