When deciding if becoming a manager is right for you, one should carefully look at the qualities that it takes to become a manager. One should decide if he or she possesses the traits that it requires to be a manager. If he or she discovers that there is a lacking in one of the traits then he or she must look at how that can be improved and whether it can be improved at all. I was asked to do just this in my Management and Organizational Behavior class. I will be looking at my weakness and how I can go about improving them and looking at my strengths that I already possess and how they will help me in the business world.
I will discuss my weaknesses that I found during my research first. I took the ‘Rate Your Global Management Potential’ test on page 121 and it told me that I really lack the skills that it takes to become a global manager. I really do not know very much about other cultures at this point in my life but in order to be an effective manager and, especially an effective global manager, I have to be able to relate to people of other cultures and definitely know information about those cultures and places. To start broadening my horizons, I could learn a foreign language, such as Spanish. I could also travel when I get the opportunity to help in the process of learning other languages and become immersed into other cultures. I could take a class in World Cultures to further my education in this area. I also learned by looking at “How Tolerant Are You?” on page 380 that I am not a very tolerant person. I scored a 30 on my scale of tolerance, which said that I am less tolerant than the normal person and that could really affect my business or personal relationships. I will have to slowly work on this because it is not a...

...ry important and when looking at these tests I found that they told me more of my strengths than my weaknesses. I think that the weaknesses are the things that could really hold me back from becoming a good manager and even being able to become one at all. I think they are the most important part of this whole assignment. My weaknesses are big weaknesses that will take much effort on my part but must be done in order to be a successful manager.

I have realized that to be an effective contributor to an organization, there are a numerous breadth of qualities to be desired. In obtaining the results from the personality tests, I have a better perception of my strengths and weaknesses within my personality. This will allow me to have a new perspective on how and why I behave in particular situations. Therefore, I know what my weaknesses are and work to be stronger in those particular areas.
These strengths and weaknesses were mainly discovered through the papers that we have written. I have many strengths when I’m writing papers and at the same time, I have many weaknesses. In my papers, I have noticed that one of my biggest strengths is how articulate I am. The papers that have been written by myself show that I structured sentences to present ideas in different ways. It is not straightforward and boring when ideas are presented. I like to keep the reader hooked on my paper. In order to keep up with this strength, I like to read articles. The articles I read are typically the ones that present new ideas or start arguments. This is one of my strengths that I am very proud
The self-assessment test shows people their areas of strengths and weaknesses (Bethel University, 2014). In order to achieve success people must learn to use their strengths and improve their weaknesses. The first step in this process is learning which skills are strengths and which are weaknesses (Bethel University, 2014). After taking the test I was pleased to find I had more strengths than weaknesses. However, the test brought to light issues that I did not realize could be hindering my success. My management skills need the most improvement.
When it comes to management and leadership within any organization, there are fundamental components to consider, of which, managers of all backgrounds embody. Globalisation allows individuals, groups, corporations, and countries to reach around the world farther, faster, more deeply, and more cheaply than ever before. Most large local companies regard globalisation as opportunity, thereby exploring overseas markets for maximum market share and optimum business strategies. However, managers would face a series of challenges caused by leadership models, cultural backgrounds, political and economic risks, HR management, etc. To study multinational management skills is very useful for my future career. The idealistic leader and manager is our Heavenly Father. Today, people lose the willingness to understand and apply biblical references to their daily activities. The Holy Bible teaches us to implore the works of God and seek refuge in Christ. By seeking knowledge form the Holy Bible, we learn how to think, act and talk in a virtuous manner. It is essential to know God and what lifestyles we need to choose and adapt to while on Earth.
Robbins (1997) defines managers as those who are all oversee the activities of other people with the purpose of accomplishing organizational goals. Therefore, in order to provide organizations with the best outcome, effective managers are urgently needed for modern organization. This is simply because, according to Hunsaker (2001), that the increasing recognition is given to the importance of having managers with strong interpersonal skills rather than, that twenty years ago, managers were only valued primarily for their technical know-how.
When considering the term management, there has always been a common miss conception that this automatically makes an individual a leader. Leadership is only a single element of the management role. Many times managers are more comfortable utilizing a particular leadership style. While this may work well the majority of the time, certain employees or situations may require a different approach. Good leadership requires that the individual recognize the need for change to motivate their employees to accomplish the task at hand or to reach common goals. Understanding the importance of leadership is essential. However, the key element to focus on is what steps can be taken to improve one’s leadership capabilities. For many individuals this may be a difficult question to answer and may only be possible through self-assessment and reflection.

Personality traits such as honest, dutiful, practical and responsible are my strengths; personality traits such as stubborn, insensitive and poor communication skill are my weaknesses. Related to the knowledge I have learned in the course I believe both strengths and weakness will have influence to my future career development. In this reflection paper, I will demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses that may place the most influence on my way of success.
