Life can be like a puzzle when putting pieces of the history together: When times were bad in the nineteen hundreds people begin to immigrate to new parts of the world. My great grandparents immigrated from Italy in the early nineteen hundreds they had to move away from there own country to survive. Many people moved to the north part of the world as many others move to the south part. My great grandparents decided to move to the south. They choose to immigrate to the city of Chihuahua. The city was small at that time; most part of it was land. People were traveling on horses. They had to travel on horses to go the nearest general store. Most of the time they had to produce there own food. Chihuahua had good land, so people could cultivate many foods. Tomatoes, onions, cheese and many other items that were grown by the people. Technology was not as good as today, so many people didn't have money to pay for bill or telephones. So they had to learn how to write to there relatives back home. Everything had to be worked by hand. Back then they did not have many appliances,so they had to wash by hand. I don't think my daughter could have survived back in those days. She is just not able to be without a phone or without a car . My great grandparents must have had a real hard life. My grandmother would always tell me stories about on how her dad would take her horse riding and how they would meet Indians on their journey. She would say how at times that her father would fear the Indians., but at the end they would end up being friends an begin to exchange items. On many occasions my grandmother would also try to teach us Italian, but I never pay attention Spanish was easy. How convince has life been in Amer... ... middle of paper ... ...ave found a new man in my life who takes care of me by giving me that support that I need as a woman. The love that I always been looking for because I deserved it. An now more that ever I can see clear what I want. I also think that when I am fifty I will begun to travel around the world. First, I would like to star with Italy, so I can visit my grandmother's country. I, also would like to see were she grew up and how the people of Italy are . All I can remember are the stories she used to tell me about her country. I am also interested in going to South America especially Brazil. I am going to enjoy traveling because I will be able to meet different kind of people in the world. I think when I turn eighty I am going to be able to finish the puzzle of my life because as I get older the pieces of my life begun to fit better being old is not such a bad idea.
Starting in the 1830s, many immigrants came flooding into the United States of America due to hard times, famines, and economic opportunities. Everyday, thousands of underprivileged citizens would take on the task of being an American. To begin, many immigrants were Irish due to the Irish Famine in the late 1840s (Doc 2). According to Catherine Moran McNamara, “The Irish lived under awful stress. I’ve seen the family thrown out (Doc 2).” Meanwhile during the Irish Famine, many potato crops died, leaving families without a source of food or income(OI). However, the Irish were not the only culture going through tough times. In Greece, the pay was unbearable with only five dollars a day(Doc 3). Also, George Kokkas explains that Greece lacked education for the youth. He stated that “I was concerned for the education of my kids.
Between the years of 1840 and 1914, about forty million people immigrated to the United States from foreign countries. Many of them came to find work and earn money to have a better life for their families. Others immigrated because they wanted to escape the corrupt political power of their homelands, such as the revolution in Mexico after 1911. Whatever the case, many found it difficult to begin again in a new country. Most immigrants lived in slums with very poor living conditions. They had a hard time finding work that paid enough to support a family. Not only was it difficult for immigrant men, but for women as well. Immigrant women faced many challenges including lack of education and social life as well as low wages and poor working conditions.
No place to work? No means through which to provide for your family? These were the issues facing the individuals in northern Mexico during the 1900s. Many people were without jobs, having no way to provide for their family. They looked high and low, but the job market was sparse, and if there were jobs available, they probably required a specialized skillset that the people didn’t have. In order to solve this problem, Mexico and America jointly began the formation of the first maquiladoras. We will determine the effect that maquiladoras have had on the history of Mexico by looking at when and why they were first started and what have been the positive and negative effects of them.
The Hmong refugees that fled from such countries as Vietnam, Laos and Thailand had some trouble adapting to the American culture. An arriving refugee and his family would probably have sold all of their worldly possessions so they could have enough money to live off of until the father got a job or the mother was able to produce some textile goods to sell. In Southeast Asia, The Hmong lived high in the mountains. The Hmong men tended to be farmers, while the women would stay in the village and tend to the household needs while also helping with the crops. They grew all of their own food, and had no farm machinery to aid in the reaping of their crop. There was also no form of transportation except walking. This was very hard labor, so the Hmong needed a lot of help to grow food, everyone in the family helped in the household chores and working the land.
As an immigrant myself , my family did not have much at the beginning and just
Immigrants across the globe face challenges and difficulties throughout their lives. But if they came to America in hope for something better but getting something worse, America would be one of the worse challenges they ever face. Esperanza Ortega from the book “Esperanza rising,” faced many challenges mainly in America. Esperanza faces many challenges like her mom being sick with valley fever and not knowing how to do house chores because she had always had servants doing the chores for her. In this essay you will see the many challenges Esperanza faces throughout the book.
Over-production in rural areas due to these new production technologies meant many left for big cities in hope of a new life. This sweeping shift in American life, although disrupting the centuries-old ways of many communities, was presenting opportunities rich with hope for many people. Individuals who had traditionally struggled to earn enough to live on as farmers were now able to learn a vast array of trades and move into developing cities such as New York, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Detroit. Americans, however, were not the only people banking on this prospect of the urbanized and prosperous American Dream. From far corners of the world, as far as China and Europe, floods of immigrants in hopes of improving their peasant lives from back in their old country. The American workforce was forever changed between the years of 1875 and 1910. Old and new immigrants more times than not faced intense friction and squabbles, and in a sense fought to re-define what it meant to be an American. Old world ideologies about identity, religion, and politics were to gradually give way to a new and encompassing national identity of American pluralism. They came seeking liberation from the stifling class systems and monarchies of the old world, as peasants and small craftsmen, they could never even hope to own their land let alone make a decent living for themselves. These
millions of immigrants migrated into America, the more difficult it became for people to live in
The early settlers of America and today’s immigrants have a lot more similarities than one would assume. Both groups had to endure several challenges when trying to enter the United States in search of a better and easier life. They had to worry about hydration and physical endurance while also risking having their families split up, getting sick, and even dying. That is where the similarities end though, as today’s immigrants must go on with their lives in extreme powerlessness, something the early inhabitants avoided by establishing their own authority. Today’s immigrants are restricted from the most basic of necessities and have to face hostile and belligerent groups of people, among other things. Today's immigrant's experiences are much

Despite the ultimate dream, new comers faced obstacles and hardships upon arrival. They came to America usually not knowing the language, they usually did not know anyone already living here, and did not have a place to stay in the beginning. Upon finding lodging, many had to live in small rooms, sharing them with other people. The majority also worked under tough conditions; they en...
I am looking forward to learning more things as my life goes by. I view the world as being brand-new because I am growing and maturing. I think it is amazing that I feel this way because I did not think I would ever be like this, ever. Finally I feel that I will achieve my goal and find a passion that is right for me if I continue to learn and mature more, I feel I will be a new and better person. I honestly can say I am proud of myself.
There is nothing quite like traveling, going someplace new and finding out more about the world and yourself. Anyone can become a traveler it just takes a little bit of faith and courage. Traveling across the world or even across the country is a learning experience. When you are a traveler you see how people live and how different cultures work.
